i dont know if anyone has posted this but they want to make us have 25 dollar license plates on our bikes along with other bs.

I think $25 is a bit much, but in Boulder there are some huge douchebags on bikes that would be nice if you could just take them out or fine em for being dumbass'.

Sounds almost so rediculos that it couldn't be true. A bicycle safety inspection sound like a load of bull to, your going 15 mph under your own power you don't need a safety inspection

in oregon. there trying to pass one as well.. as a bike rider iam sort of for it.. it would mean that the money would go into the roads.. and those fucking fix gear hipsters with no brakes would fuck off!

it would be a 50doller regerstration.  but it would be for life.   so im not that pissed... share the road share the rules.

now you will abide by traffic laws instead of cruising on the road and hopping on the sidewalk, blasting the stop sign/stoplight and continuing on the road while wanting to get the same rights as cars. you can't have your cake and eat it too.

i used to bike everywhere and have come to the conclusion that

when biking, you fucking hate cars

when driving, you fucking hate stupid bikers weaving in and out of traffic causing a ruckus

if i am ever dictator of the world im just going to straight up not allow people to drive cars, efficient and effective public transportation to anywhere you want to go and roads for human powered transportation only

They tried it in Canada a while ago. 70's or something I don't know exactly when.
went to shit as it was impossible to enforce and law got overturned in almost no time at all. my grandpa's bike still has the plate.

and bike rules have gotten way too out of control. the dumbest being biking on the sidewalk. especially in winter when there's absolutely no room on the road to bike and you don't really feel like slipping in traffic why the hell would you not bike on the sidewalk?? it takes no more space than your shoulder width.

in Canada though, a bike is considered a motor vehicle and falls under all the same traffic laws. as in, you can get a speeding ticket on a bike.

best I did was 3 tickets in one go, being on a sidewalk, not having a light, and not having a working bell. totalled but complained by ass off and challenged them all and got it down to 30 dollars. part of it being, having a light and bell on your bike falls under highway traffic act, while riding on the sidewalk highway traffic act doesn't actually apply as it's not a roadway. so yea. cool story

By law, bicyclists are not allowed on sidewalks, lest it be a Bike Path. So, cop was outta line.

Those fuckers need to stop sporting those "Share the road" stickers for cyclists they have here. I have no problem running some kook on a bike down if hes in the middle of the road and not in the bike lane.

Fuck you. Straight up. We have fuck all for bike lanes here in Utah, and every right to use the same lanes you do. It was probably some stupid fucker like you who almost killed me last summer. They made a right turn from the straight lane w/ no signal forcing me to lay my bike down at 30+ mph. Didn't even notice me and drove off. Absurd.

Woah there. I understand you're pissed about that and I don't blame you for being pissed one bit. Unless they do something to make sidewalks wider or bike lanes way wider and safer for you guys, I can't really do anything to move over to give you guys some space. Its either I sideswipe a car next to me or you guys loose breathing room in the bike lane.

that's why if I'm biking in the city and am forced to bike on the road in rush hour I take the whole lane. dont even give a chance for a car to pass me. If I have to follow the same rules as cars they can fucking wait for me on a bike.

Same. I've had some moments over the summer where I'm cruising down a relatively quiet residential street and some douchebag on his phone coming home from work buzzes by and nearly runs me off the road. Rediculous.

no actually i still wouldnt give a fuck. For one i wouldn't put a stupid plate on a $4000+ bike, and even if I did, the writing will be too small to read by the time you process what happened, and read the plate of the bike passing you, running lights, on and off the sidewalk, weaving through traffic and so on. This plate could also be seen as a danger if it protrudes from the frame in any way, considering my bikes are all my race bikes other then my dj bike, which i certainly wouldn't want something sticking out on either.

i'm preeeeety sure that this license plate law isn't going to pass because of concerns like this. bikers used to have no voice but due to the growing trail usage issues, there are groups out there representing bikers in the political realm.
