Just looking at an all mountain ski which im hoping to do some more off piste with. Ive hiked in bounds before and done some pretty steep skiing so im an advanced skier you loves to go fast. At the moment im on a pair of 176 elan carvers(waveflex 14) and 178 salomon race 24h. Im 5" 10 so i ski on big skis i think. Can you guys suggest a size 185 or 195 or any other skis that you think i would enjoy?
I also need it to ski piste and ice pretty well if im not skiing off piste.
i started using a friend's pair of motherships this year, they haul ass on groomers and love the powder, i huck a lot of cliffs in montana and they handle great
I hope they make the P115 in a 190+ next year. Ive read nothing but good things about the 185cm P115s. I could finally buy a pow stick to keep for a few years.
i have 195 mo'ships i'd be willing to sell for cheap if you want the big ones. they're this year's model with less than 20 days on them.
in response to your question, the prophets are a great ski. they seem to have an easier turning radius than the mothership. get the mothership if you want to set a new land speed record in choppy snow and not notice a single bump, send big cliffs, and/or have the gnarliest skis around. otherwise, go with the prophets.
I would suggest you go for the prophets instead of the motherships. The Mothership is a really good ski, but it's a ski you need to stay on top of at all times. If you're not working the ski hard at all times, it's one of those skis that will take you for a ride.
They'll be able to handle anything.
It's such a sick ski.
You said you're looking for an all mountain ski that you can still charge in. I would go with the 115 for sure, it'll be able to hold itself. If you're looking for something with a little less waist that the 115, and more 70% all mountain - 30% powder, go with the Prophet 100.
The Mothership (like people said) is a tank, stiff as a board, fast as a cheetah. It's the Canyonero of skis.
Bottom line, you'd be better off the 115.
Hands down
this ski is like a fright train, it charges hard. it is really heavy though, if u like to hike/tour like you said in op then i would sugest something like icelantic keepers, armada jj's, k2 obsethed, or moment bibby pros.
