Windells Academy.

Is anyone in the Windells academy? I heard it was dope but I have also heard its alot of work and not alot of free time for skiing .

Feedback is appreciated.

What UP!!! I go to Windells Academy and i can tell you now when you heard their was no free time for skiing that person was tripping! Weekly you wake up at 7 in the morning and have breakfast and are on the mountain by 8:30 and you ski from then until 12:30 every single day. Then you get back to campus at about 1 and have an hour until you go to school at 2. You have school from 2 until 4 and then 4:15 until 6 which is when dinner starts. So yeh its really intense and very tiring but you definitely get enough skiing. Plus you can ski all day saturday and sunday if you want to. We had a lot of snow in the past week so we have been jibbing around campus all weekend and we got a lot of sick stuff done. Their are also certain activities after dinner on specific nights like on tuesday night is skier tramp night and thursday is skier inline night so there is alot to do. Plus there are activities we go to do like trampoline dodgeball in portland and paint balling.

yea i graduated from windells academy last year. you defff have free time to ski on the weekends with friends and people that you meet. and you ski for 4 hours every day during the week so you get plenty of skiing in. its a full packed day between dry land training skiing and school but if you get your work done during school you get to relax at night and usually get to go up to BOB and jump on trampolines and skate. also on the weekends you always have a choice between relaxing and skiing. Its a really fun, sick place you should check it out!

i am also currently attending windells academy! It is such a ill experiences and should not be missed out on. Just like mr savage said that is the routine we go through and you have class from 2-6 which is dinner time. There is a lot of training that everyone goes through skiers and snowboards together as well. It is a great environment to pick up skiing and to improve. The place is awesome and skiing at T-Line is top of the line i would say, Great park amazing coaches and a all around chill environment for anyone to try their best and accomplish any of their goals. I attend Windells Academy as well, and it is like heaven!...Like Savage and Cdollo said we have all the time you need to ski, we ski about 5 hourse everyday and we also go skiing on weekends which gives 8 hour days on the weekends. Plus on campus we have the dryslope right outside our cabins which is very fun for when your not on hill. In the WInter we also travel across the country and world competeing in various comps which is super fun with the whole crew. All i know is that ive been here for about 6 monthes and have skied more then the past two years so im very convinced that i get alot of skiing in.....Also we have super good coaching from Jeff Curry and also Mike Hanley who is our Teacher, Coach, President who has helped me with everything pretty much!

Based on the spelling and grammar of those who have posted and attend, it's not prime for education.

I think it would be awesome to get to ski everyday, and live at Windells... but at a certain point I think it's too much. Maybe I value my education too much, or am oblivious to something.

I definitely understand what you're saying, but at some point (in my opinion) you gotta realize when it's too much. It would be such an awesome semester to be at Windells, but you wouldn't gain anything as far as education goes, which is the most important thing to me at this point. Sure they've got Kaplan "certified" courses, but they're garbage and we all know it. Anyone who's sold on that isn't going to notice the difference. How many AP classes do they offer? How many high math classes (calculus and above) do they offer? How many legitimate teachers do they have? I doubt we need to even answer those... So for all those who attend Windells Academy, that's absolutely awesome and I'm jealous you get to shred every day, but I'm content where I am now.

because i can almost guarantee you the teacher or person in charge told all the kids to get newschoolers accounts and post about how great windells academy is in this thread. its simple really. use all the kids who paid 30 grand to be there advertise for them

Yes collages recognize windells academics. And many of the windells students actually get early entry into many collages and almost all students do very well academically.

yeah i mean i get your point....i think its that i just hate my school so windells academy just looks sick but i see what your saying about the classes. its not even windless academy i want to go to that is too far out of my reach, its really the mountain school i have at my mountain i want to go to.

there are many schools throughout the country that have excellent ski programs where you can ski 7 days a week and also receive a quality education. I attended holderness in plymouth NH and the top freeride skiers all ski with the Waterville kids who have top notch coaching and training. This is where both the Martini's and Cam Riley went. For kids that are not trying to be super competitive like myself we still skied every weekday at loon which is one of the top parks in the east. i skied between 80-100 days throughout highschool and still got a top quality prep school education. any one looking at something like windells should also look at places like Holderness, CVA, or any of the other highly challengin academic schools with world class ski programs

I would look into it more before you say that. The accreditation could be the same as any other high school which could get you into college just as easy. I don't believe that just because they didn't use proper grammar on the Internet, that they don't have those grammar skills.

they're obviously getting a less challenging education though by going to the academy, because they're going there mainly to ski everyday while going to school less. I would not be surprised if colleges chose a normal kid from a public school with the same grades as a kid from windells academy, because a public school focuses on strict education, while education is more like a #2. at windells academy.

oh true u guys dont go here :S awkward. people in gr 12 here recently got accepted to all of the univercity of their choices. such as utah uni of BC, uni of CO, uni Of Oregon ext.... soo tell my again why its not a good education when u dont go here....:S
