yeah i agree. im not that good and i like to ski with all of my older brothers friends and get tips from them. i hate it when dumb douche bags yell at you from the lift and screw up all your confidence.

+k for you!...^ this is how more people should act. im not saying like go up to everyone and be like how do you do that but if you need help might as well ask people who seem nice. and i have noticed a few kids watch me and when i fall the first couple times they offer to help me out. like everyone had to start somewhere if people really want to see the sport grow, help out the beginners and get them to a point where they can progress. instead of laughing at them and making fun of them when they are trying to get good.

my buddy and I were lappin the park one day and a couple of kids started talkin SO much shit from the lift because my friend was tryin to learn switch ups and kept eatin shit. Anyways considering the fact that the lift they were on is a max of about 100 ft (park chair at Mad River) it was inevitable that we were going to catch up to them. My buddy is kind of a hot head so he started trying to fight the kids but after some name calling it was obvious they werent gonna do anything. So in the middle of my buddy picking a fight the kids say "this is only our third day snowboarding in the park".. so me and my buddy followed the kids through the park and yelled/made fun of them every time they "hit" a feature. Not gonna lie it was funny as hell.. I dont have any problem with kids yelling stuff from the chairs as long as it is obvious they arent just tryin to be dicks, because everyone has to start somewhere.. in fact I think it kinda adds a good feeling to the mountain if everyone is talking/having fun with each other

Yelling "DO A BACKFLIP" doesn't always work out. I was riding with a friend, and a guy straight airs a jump, my friend yells "DO A BACKFLIP". He doesn't even look, but hits the next jump, does a dub back, and afterbangs into the distance /claim.

I dont mind a little heckling. I took a header today right under the lift and shared a laugh with the people on the chair right above me. I mean how is that not funny watching someone eat it right in front of you (as long as it is obvious they are ok).

this can make the biggest difference in the world to some people. i know people who wont go in the park just because they dont want to deal with assholes, and i know that my younger brother loves skiing more because someone like this came up to him and helped him out ONE TIME when he was little. it makes  a huge difference, but i guess this is the price we pay for loving a sport overrun by pubescent males.

Most I'll ever do is cheer for someone if they have a gnarly wipe out, Hecklers are cringey as hell IMO cause most of the time they're usually:

Trash at skiing but insecure enough to take it out on others

Insecure about their own abilities

wouldn't have the nuts ( or ovaries ) to say it to someones face

12 years old and think they're hot shit cause they just learned how to gay-fed and their mom isn't there to shush them

This, I hate when people are dicks for no reason. Like you could either make someone laugh by saying something funny or make them feel bad it's a no brainer

OP was probably one of those kids that looks back up to the chairlift after every trick to make sure you saw it.

Personally I have pretty bad social anxiety so when I ski I just get uncomfortably high and drown my insecurities with trap music

my favorite is a simple "boooooo" when someone stomps something cool.

also, people get less mad when you laugh a lot while heckling. We heckle a lot in the pnw.
