Disadvantages of center mount?

whats bad about a center mount? searchbared and found nothing

Some people think it's not as good for turning but I disagree when inside the park, when skiing big mountain stuff and tight shoots it's actually really noticeable for me. So if you are going to be skiing mostly park mount them center, but if you are skiing outside the park a majority of your time don't mount them center.

Idk I prefer a centremount ski all over the mountain, I just love having lots of tail to work with and not so much tip.

it will effect the turning radius of your ski so carving isnt as easy, atleast un till you get use to it. They won't handle nearly as well in crud and powder. Skiing moguls properly is alot more difficult with a centered ski just because the extra tail gets in the way when you are sliding down the backs of the moguls. But if you an eastcoast guy or a park rat go center all the way, once you are use to it its not to much different.

like what the others said about the shorter turn radius and it makes the ski less stable while turning

if the ski is symmetrical, center mount it. it will ski oddly if you don't. odd turning radius and such.

I personally like center mount or close to it for a couple reasons:

In the park, bc booters, or any other air time/rail situations, you can whip your skis around a lot faster. Also, if your into dropping cliffs, a longer tail is going to be more stable. Lastly, and most importantly for me, there are just SO many more possibilities on a close-to-center ski. You can slash, smear, and butter turns in ways not as possible on far back mounts. It has allowed me to be much more creative and have more fun on skis. Also, if your worried about losing float, then just get skis with big rocker (i.e. hellbents, eps, caylors, bent chetlers, etc.) and it's not even a big problem. Just my two cents.

I ski core centered revivals in pow and all mountain and boy do they rule. honestly i dont have much experience with skis but ive never EVER tip dived this season since i got them. just have good technique, a little bit of rocker and some balls and its good.

Carving in powder is more difficult in powder. If you know your just doing park get them c.m. But if you still go all mountain and like doing tree runs with some powder, get em -2 or something.

It does keep you away from the backseat in the woods and bumbs but they can be hard to get around.

I ski a centermount in powder, park, and pipe. I would get a center-mount for any situation. If i wanted to ride mainly powder i would get a centermount on a bigger rockered or reversed cambered ski. Center mount is the way to go if you plan on progressing your riding skills and incorporating going switch weather it be in powder or of the cordoroy lips. ;)

Center mount if you'll be in the park, otherwise -1 to -2ish would be a bit more ideal. I tried riding my centered chronics in some tight chutes, and it was a struggle, the skis hated turning. on the other hand, they kill it in the park.

Centermounting pow skis is kinda silly, I dont think the majority of guys who do it really need it... unless you're landing the sorta stuff that Pollard, Andy and Pep do switch in pow, but I'd even bet that a few pro's dont centermount for switch pow.

all my skis get centered.

s4 and s6 are at the furthest forward mark.

wouldnt have it any other way. i love not being held back by my equipment

On most skis, in most conditions, centermount is not ideal. Think of it this way, in general the closer to center you got the less stable the ski will be (with respect to ski shape of course). Mogul skiers and tree skiers often are biased closer to the center. Gate racers and big mountain skiers move the binding as far as -7 from center no problem.  Park skiers tend to go for centermount to maximize rotational balance and switch landings. However, between you and me, the best balance between carving and agility is usually between -2 and -3.5, but again that is just my feeling.

Line anthem center mounted. But I'm planning on getting some bent chetlers next year so ill probably get those -2 or -2.5
