Whats so good about rockers?

looking at skis and was wondering if what is good about rockers when skiing park compared to regular twin tips

i have skis with some rocker in tip and tail and no camber, and theyre really smooth in the park. they dont get hung up as easily, and are a little poppier too. it just makes the ski really fun and playful, but just a tad bit harder to hold a good edge on the groomers, but its not really noticable

no, but they are more playful, float better in pow, tips dont get hung up as esily, look sick, and are sick at buttering.

Lighter swing weight. Easier maneuvering in tight areas. Better float and ride in pow.

Swing weight is a function of how much mass you have in the tips, a different camber profile doesnt effect this.

What you can have though are lower profile tips, cause with rocker, they come up to an acceptable height to clear crud and snow. Basically, you can get away with a shorter flat material length for the same size ski (say 183cm flat for a true 181cm, vs a 185cm - and sure, that trimming of flat length will decrease the weight).

My favorite attribute is that I can have a fairly stiff ski, or even a really stiff ski like the J-mo, that I can butter and play with even though it's super stable. I don't have to compromise between stability and play.

So rockered skis can be stiff and stable but still be buttery? That actually works? Cause it sounds too good to be true. I've only skied rockered skis twice, jjs both times. They were so fun, but I wouldn't call them stiff or a park ski. But thy were so fun.

Also, it seems like you wouldn't hook up in mega slush so much? I was at blue in pa on saturday, it was probably upwards 0f 45 degrees and it was slushfest 2011. If I tried to revert from switch or spin around carelessly one ski would get stuck. Would rockered skis not do that as much?

I see. I don't mean to get off topic with this but i've noticed on the new dirty rich's that you guys are making that it has more of a low profile tip on the nose and tail than other park skis along with rocker. I'm sure it has a light swing weight, correct?

More pop? I think it depends. Without the pretension, you don't have a pop effect in the middle of the ski. So as for big jumps, rocker skis actually give you less of a pop. Might be different for buttering.

it helps a negligible amount since swing weight also has to do with torque and other physics stuff where radius plays a part. and I think rocker slightly shortens a skis radius. so... fun fact.

but I tried JJ's, first skis with rocker i tried and I loved it. I'd love to have it on a park ski.
