Only one problem...no fish, what kind should i get, it's 36 gallons freshwater. Ideas?

Oscars are dope.
Cichlids (African & South American) are also dope. They are colorful and pretty aggressive.
Iradescent sharks are cool. They get pretty big and can hold their own. They look like cat sharks.
Ive had fish tanks my whole life. Ive had almost every freshwater kind of fish you can. You should put a background on the back of the tank too. Its actually better for the fish.

It's a blobfish. Actually called that. They're endangered though and live at the bottom of the ocean.

lets it sit for about 2 weeks before you put anything in it so that it can go through the nitrogen cycle or whatever it is. make sure to google it. then when that is done just get like 20 neon tetras. simple and will look cool in a school. then get your cleaning fish. like one plecostomus a couple albino catfish and maybe a snail or two.

this... Dont get angelfish , they can eat neons or other small fish, and are aggressive if there arent more than 5 in the tank. Since the tank is less than 50gallons, id get a couple schools of tetras, neons, bloodynose, or any kind really. Stay away for cichlids, they are pretty hard to keep. Make sure you let your tank go through the cycles before putting fish in the tank, you could buy a chemical in petland/petsmart that speeds up the cycle for you. Good luck, your tank looks sweet!

I have a Senegal Bichir that's pretty cool, but it might outgrow a 36 gallon. I'm moving to a 60 or 75 gallon once it gets bigger, and I'll probably get another.

You have 1 beta, and you stockpile goldfish, you label the tank "The Thunderdome", you start and have the beta fight off 1 goldie, 3 goldies, 5 goldies, and so on, after 5 of each fish there is a boss, Oscars are viscious and should destroy a beta, but if you properly train yours, he will reign champion

easiest are obviously gonna be platties and guppies ....

corydoras for the bottom would be pretty sweet as well, maybe some loaches to spice things up, i can definately advice to get a dwarf loach, the things look beautiful and are very active and crazy :)

you could also try some neons or tetras, but advice well in the petshop, maybe bring a book cause some tertas/neons can be quite dificult to handle....

i use a rule of thumb for how many fishes you could keep, i count 1L water for 1 cm of fish, so if you have a 60L tank you can keep 60cm of fish (ie. 6x10 cm loach, or 20x 3 cm guppy, or 12 x5cm corydoras or 2x5cm dwarfloach + 2x5cm corydoras + 10x 4cm platties)



if you don't have any waterplants you can also get an apple snail, these things look super cool and they eat fishpoop so your tank remains clean for longer time :)

also, betta splendens, or japanese fighting fish are sweet, but you need to make sure theres no current in the water and you dont have very active/annoying fishes (dont get loaches then)

always keep 1 male /tank otherwise the males will "fight" eachother until one of them dies....

if you keep a female as well you'll see the male "courting" the female, showing his beautiful fins, and in no time you'll have a nest and babies :)

^^same goes for the platties and guppies, if you mix genders you'll have babies in no time ! :)

my mom has parrot fish and cichlids, they get massive though, they're cool, a little territorial.
