Best ski town to live in

Like most of you guys I am obviously planning to move out west after college. Living in ny and only skiing a few months of the year is not cutting it. I have one more year of college to plan my escape. I have a few places in mind but I want some opinions on where the best places to live and ski are. (also most affordable for a 21 year old). Also some advice from people who have already made the move and learned from some mistakes.

Anyway, think about Utah especially Salt Lake City. There are a few world class resorts within 30 minutes of the city.

ive already decided that once i graduate and travel for a bit im gonna try settle in Revelstoke, nice small town thats growing with an insane mountain from what ive heard. prefer small towns

If you were still in college I would say Summit County, but I'm assuming you're going to be looking for a legitimate job.


In that case, Denver or Salt Lake City.


I spend a lot of time in both (live in Breck), so PM if you have any specific questions. =)

Crested Butte...and that place is pretty exspensive.
If you want to go somewhere id say Utah( I dont know of any place really) or Durango, Colorado. Its a smaller town and the ski areas arent as commercialized as some of the other places.

crested butte is definitely the best ski town i've ever been in. Really chill people great skiing places to live are gonna be kind of expensive though

Living in squaw would be really fucking expensive. Check out truckee, CA though. Super chill and really good skiing nearby

I thing PCMR has housing for its employees, but that may just be for instructors and not lifties. Park city is pretty nice but its kinda expensive, but every ski town pretty much is. What about Big Sky?

Truckee is such a sick town. First time I've been there this season ever in my life. I'm impressed by how big skiing culture is there. Such a fun place. I would deff live there when I'm older. That and the PNW. Salt lake is dope, too. I love it here.

Fernie bc if your more into pow and can live without a jump in the park. Beautiful ski town and free healthcare when you break your leg. That Roght there makes it cheaper in the long run

never been to all these ski towns you speak of. but i've been to slc/pc and it's the place to be for "masses". SLC allows you to have a job in a whatever the fuck you want to get by if you want, or excel in your career. Plus a college to get some credits....and if you got the cash to roll big you can stay in Park City / Kimball Junction / whatever.

So you can have your chipotle and get your pow skiing, park skiing, and golfing done in the same day.....and have time for a class or work.

Been trying to figure this out for a long time, everywhere that seems like it's better than Colorado has shit weather ie. overcast and fog, and/or wet snow.

Steamboat gets a lot of snow, and is a pretty established town, but there are so many wanna be poser ass ski cowboys it makes me sick. Crested Butte is nice, property prices have come down a lot plus you have blue mesa close. Summit County is like the Jersey Shore of ski towns. Telluride is expensive but fucking scenic.

Really it depends on what youre looking for. Skiing, Apres ski, skiing+ other outdoor activites, raising a family, isolation...

Right now I live in Boulder with a decent career that lets me ski the close places any day of the week, and take trips whenever I want. Still everyday I struggle with packing it all up and moving to live in poverty at the base of a real ski town. Some day I'll escape this urban hellscape.

Its got great urban, too! Also free building materials and supplies if you want to build your own jib straight from the houses. Beware of the dead hobos and crackheads that dwell in them though.

Do you guys have any ideas on where to live for a month this coming winter? It will be my last month long break (I'll be a senior). I was thinking of renting an RV and hitting a bunch of places, but it would be wayyy more economical to find a place that shares a season pass with a few other resorts that are all relatively close to one another.
