So I'm going to the grand canyon

And I only have a 50mm for my D70 at I would like something wider so I can take portrait shots. I have been looking around on ebay at some filter type things that I can screw on my 50.

Would this fit the bill without distorting or vignetting? or could I go cheaper?

Will the picture quality get all screwed up and look shitty? and also it says the filter is a .45, does that mean it will make my 50 into a 22?

I know a kid that puts one of those things on his 50 sometimes, I think it works okay for the price

NO dont do that. it will ruin your image quality.

Whats a good lens? 35? I would like to stick with prime and the dynamic range on the photo it killer

for the grand canyon...the widest lens ever. its HUGE. that photo was actually taken with a fisheye. but not a shitty snap on one like u wanna get. those kill quality to no end. and i went to that trip with a fisheye. a 28 f/2.8 prime. a 50. and a zoom. i was very happy with my lineup there. get a 28 or a 35. id go with 28 personally. its pretty solid and not that expensive either

Theirs a nikon 10.5 fish I can get my hands on, bit the distortion will be to much no?

Maybe, that's a picture I took with mine, as you can see there is quite a bit of distortion.  You could probably get some nice shots of the Grand Canyon with it, but definitely bring another lens as well
