I know this is a damn noob question, but what does DIN stand for and what should my setting be? I am 5'8', 150. Thanks

the higher the din is, the harder it will be to the boot to come of the binding. Din depend of your skill...

I wouldnt set it anywhere near 10 maybe 5 or 6. when you dont pop out of the bindings you are risking injuries especially knees

What type of skiing do you do primarily? If you ski hard, with 150 lbs, you'll be upward of 8, if you don't ski hard, you might be like a 7. Ask a shop tech to help you out, it takes them two seconds. The numbers I just gave you seem about right, but there's always that chance that they are horribly wrong, so don't go by them.

start it on 7 and when you are skiing and you feel your skis are falling off too easily than you can bumb it up to 9 and if you still want more you can move it up even further. If you feel unsafe because your skis stay on when the should fall off then move it down. you'll probobly fine 7 to be too low and around 9 is good.

I hate letting the shop set my bindings. I use them as a guideline but I always end up cranking them up. The little formula they have doesn't work for me. As soon as I landed switch a little forward I'd release and wipe out on a jump that I should have otherwise landed.

ya. don't just crank them up all the way right away. let the shop do them and then test them out and incrementaly put them higher if they need it. it really does suck if they're on too tight. I tore an ankle ligament, but I don't think it was from having too high of din. the ski did come off I just landed switch wierd. They need to invent a new binding that takes switch further into consideration.

I work nect to the sho at REI and Am the only non-married employee other than the techs so we hang out a lot. Certain Bindings have slightly different setting than others. If you go to a shop, talk to the tech, he can give you a lot of information, especially if they are not busy. Most techs are into the sport to. I think techs are an excellent resources for looking at ski related items because they see all the problems associated wioth skis, have to usually fix it, and also have most of the manufacturer guides

most people start low, like 7, and by the end of the season work their way up to 10 or 12. This is for people who can actually ski though, so if you suck just keep them on 7
