Help me find the right rockered ski. +k

Hi guys,

so i'm 6'3 and about 165 pounds and i'm trying to find a good rockered twintip. i like softer skis so i was looking at the ep pros, but i think 185 is gonna be too short. anything that skis like the ep pros but is a bit longer? preferably 189 or longer? any help is greatly appreciated and +k of course

Get the 192 Salomon Rocker 2, when its out next season, is a great ski, pretty soft in the tip and tail, but fairly stiff underfoot so you can still carve. Iv been riding the 184 all season and its the best powder ski iv ridden in years

thanks for all the help everyone! i gave you all 10/10. just a couple questions tho

does the salomon rocker 2 have rocker in the tip and tail? basically i'm wondering if its fishtailed like the rocker 1 or if i'm actually gonna be able to ski it switch

hows the durability on the surface new lifes? i've heard tons of good things about surface but i have heard a few people say they fall apart sorta fast

the hellbents look sick but they're so damn rockered that they look terrifying with any kind of speed on hardpack. are they super floppy on hardpack? will all rockered skis be like that anyway?

lots of questions, but thats what newschoolers is awesome about is getting first hand experience from others, so thanks for any feedback!

Dude I am exactly the same stats and i ride Moments bibby pros in 184. The next 2 sizes up are stiffer so i stayed at 184. More maneuverable, too. If I tell correctly they have a proper sidecut, no early taper, so combined with rocker that isn't downright banana-like, they carve soooo nice. You don't want a noodle-soft quick-turning banana ski all the time! The matte topsheets don't show scratchs much, only when reflected right. The topsheet edges are like solid epoxy, so nothing ever starts to peel or delaminate. The rocker is perfect, and practical for everywhere. Smart design, really. The bases do feel more smooth and fast cause of some other material. The skis are hot.

They have about as much rocker as EP Pros. They will be floppy on hardpack, all soft rockered skis are. That doesn't make them un-skiable though.

If you're really concerned about performance on hardpack, you're looking at the wrong type of skis. Something like Line Sir Francis Bacon or Armada JJ will be better on hardpack while still being really good in pow.

if you like the hellbents, you should try out the 2012 obsethed. i demoed them last week at white pass and they were great carvers on the groomed and a shorter, more extreme rocker than the hellbents so they were amazing in the pow too. they were an all around great ski, but dont get them if you dont like wide skis, they are 117 underfoot and look more like old hellbents than old seths. they do shake a little, but you dont even notice it.

i actually ride the bacons now and i love them, but i want something thats a bit more floaty. definitely leaning towards hellbents, thanks again!

honestly i would just get the eps. i skied my friends for awhile today and had an awesome time on them. im also 6'3 and 195 lbs. i had an amazing amount of fun skiing on them and they are a dream switch

if i were you i would totaly wait and get the AK JJ or the TST's both would be great for you size. im about 6'1"  150 and i love my 185 JJ's

If you want a fully rockered ski thats not as washy, 191 Caylors? Medium stiff, bamboo core, I make them... lots of good reasons to get a pair!

just read a review of these on tgr, and damn do they sound awesome. but the guy reviewing them was 210 lbs, do you think their still gonna be soft enough at the 191 length for a dude who weighs 165 soaking wet?

Leads into the question of why you're looking for a soft ski anyways. I'm 5'10 170 and I love the 191 length over the 181 and absolutely would not want them any softer for the skiing I do on them. You can land drops and gnarly shit without washing out, stable on groomers and in chop, and they kill it in deep snow. Yes, huge buttery skis are fun in deep deep snow, but they're just not versatile enough for me, and I get to ski that stuff 10 days a year at best anyways... at least till next year, when I'll hopefully have a sled or a Japan trip worked out.

I dunno, read some reviews on EP's and Hellbents and decide if the advantages of going stiffer are something you'll enjoy more often than dealing with the disadvantages of going soft.
