Ski boot toe buckle placement

i noticed an old pair of snowboard bindings had a strap going across the top of the toe. this is the placement of the buckle of a ski boot. nowadays snowboarders have amongst other cutting edge products, a toe strap that makes contact throughout the whole front of the boot. seems like were at a huge disadvantage by this.

think about what you just posted
if you've thought correctly you will realize it makes no sense
what you're thinking about is bindings
the bindings on a board that keep you on a board are totally different than skis

yeah, and this puts us at a disadvantage.

a ski boot could...will incorporate this someday...soon.

the buckle your talking about on a ski boot keeps your foot in the boot from sliding forward, how in any way is this buckle placement a disadvantage

1. soft boot v. hard boot

2. Forward lean required in a ski boot is not like forward lean required in a snowboard boot - totally different designs on purpose

different types of boots and boards require different buckle placements. skis and boards handle differently, therefore need different boots and set ups

snowboarders toe strap used to go over the boot now it goes around the toe.

ours currently goes over the toe of the boot, leaving the toes close to useless.

i understand the difference between the two platforms, and i understand how much better snowboard products are currently compared to ours. snowboarders once raced on alpine ski boots, there is a reason they dont anymore.  and you would be surprised how similar the sports are.

so when we lean forward in to our ski boots, the tongue of the boot allows the forward movement, but the foot is actually sliding backward, basic anatomy, the toes are coming away from the front of the boot. all of this contributes to the lack of control when freestyle skiing.

the style of ratchet you are describing doesn't have same closing force that a buckle does at that area (but it would on the upper cuff though). Plus the plastic cannot wrap that much at the #1 position (furthest forward toe buckle). If your boots fit you correctly, you shouldn't even be cranking your toe buckles down anyway.
