What do FT Tongues do?

Okay, so, I just got a pair of FT's and here is one thing I don't get, do the tongues do anything besides keep the cables from going in the wrong area, or do they help with flex, spread pressure, etc?

The tongues offer different flexes with 10 flex being stiff stiff and 1 being really soft

look at a corigated straw or ur finder see how much easier its is to bend the corigated straw over a straight straw or ur finger over ur arm haha

Rather than "FT Tongues" I meant "FT cable covers"

No, the cable covers don't do anything extra besides cover the cables

The cable covers actually keep the cables place when unbuckled but do nothing for performance
