hes invincible. hes also in a heavily fortified bunker in the middle of a highly populated city. it would be foolish and short sighted to level tripoli, which is what you'd have to do to kill him.

While colonialism is over Europe still profits immensely from the North African nations.

As for Canada it's because we need to justify the purchase of our new F-35 stealth fighters and the massive increase in defense spending(defense spending is as high as it was in WWII right now for Canada which is a good thing)

Because France is one of the permanent members of the U.N. Security Council along with the U.K. Russia, China and the U.S. France, The U.S. and The U.K. all agreed on the no fly zone over Libya that is why France is there. Canada being there is probably because they are a close Allie to the U.S.

Why are you increasing defense spending out of interest?
Just that Britain has just cut the defence budget epically because of the economic crisis or something.

and yeah the main reason, one could argue, is that countries are going in is because they would like to stay involved in the countries economy (oil & stuff) by supporting a form of government that is most easy to work with (not a dictator).

also it is interesting because in sudan and other counrties in the middle east are also being accused and are doing similar things to their people, but its easier for them to get away with it because they arent really getting in the way of the USs intrests.

in my opinion it isnt really the US's job to make sure the world is a better place and act like police to other countries. but it should protect its interests to make sure its people are living comfortably. and the usa can just gather support because it usually takes a moral stance with issues in the middle east. so people in america are left to believe that "oh the united states is doing the right thing to ensure world peace" from watching the media and stuff. im not saying its bad, imo its good because i personally am an american and like it when my country stands up for the interests of its people.

and yeah im still in high school so if i sound rediculus just tell me

We are finally increasing defense spending because unlike the USA when the Canadian government has to cut funding the first place they turn to is defense spending. This has been ongoing for the last 40 years widdling our military down to a shell of its former self. Hell before Afghanistan they were considering getting rid of all our tanks.

An example for you in 1955 Canada had over 650 fighter planes, now we only have 112. Our army was reduced from over 300000 soldiers to 40000. That is just the Army. Our navy has been hit even harder.

In other words what Britain is doing now has been ongoing in Canada for the last 40 years. They are finally pouring billions into defense to get it back up to standards

I forgot to add, with the new defense spending we will be buying


For the Navy 5-8 corvettes and

15 new destroyers

2 possible escort carriers(so far in discussion).

30 brand new Sikorsky shipborne helicopters


Our Army has just bought an extra 40 Leopard C2 tanks bringing our total number of tanks to 114

They will be purchasing 120 new Swedish light tanks

High mobility rocket launcher vehicles

30 brand new m777 howitzers


Our Airforce has bought half a dozen Globemaster transport planes and possibly more

65 F-35 Stealth fighters

A dozen Super Hercules transport planes

I heard Libyan head Moammar Gadhafi was ousted Sunday after forty two years of rule when rebel forces overtook the capital city of Tripoli (Tripoli falls to rebel forces). The fallen leader's whereabouts remain a mystery as thousands cheer in the streets. It's interesting to see where he'll finally surfaces. :D I heard it is suspected he may have fled south of the country.

He is either gonna pop up in the essentially gangland of the south of Libya or in Venezuela with his buddy Chavez. My money is on Venezuela since people think he was last seen on the eastern side of Libya near I believe it is Algeria (my geography sucks)
