I need some tech help, game, tv series advice

Okay, so I broke my leg, got a lot of couch time and all my roommates are going to be out of town next week, leaving me pretty much alone and apartment bound for a full week.

First matter first - we were recently given a PS3, but for the fucking life of me, I cant get it to hook up to our tv. Our TV only has a RF in (its old, whatever), and so I've always used an RF Modulator between the HDR and TV for any DVD or old VCR (yeah, old ski movies on VHS). The remote for the TV is long gone, but its never been a problem - as soon as I power up the DVD player or whatevers hooked up to the AV components, it takes over and cuts the cable signal. Not so for the PS3, and I've tried everything, even disconnecting the cable box, just running the PS3 -> RF Mod -> TV Ant in. No worky. No idea why. Any suggestions so I can get this working?



If the PS3 and all the games we have is a bust, I'll need something else. I have a pretty slick laptop that can run any game, but I have to use this thing on my lap, so using a mouse is kinda out. Games I've really enjoyed:

Sim City 4
Baldurs Gate/Neverwinter Nights (trying to play through nwn2, kinda boring so far)
Civ 4/5
KOTOR 1/2
GTA series
Any of the OG skate games, but Tony Hawk series has gone downhill I hear
Starcraft/Warcraft 2/3



As for TV shows, these are the ones I've really enjoyed:
Dexter (Season 1-2, then it got bad)
Top Gear
Californication
Battlestar Galactica

And I'm sure I'm forgetting some. Anyways, halp?

2. purchase decent sized tv that you can plug a ps3 into for $20

The problem is that my roommates are gone, and I have a broken leg. I cant exactly go haul a TV up the stairs of my apartment, otherwise I'd be all over it.

Dude, movies are so hit and miss for me, but thats a good idea, might steal Thomas's account for a while.

I need something interactive, fuck this TV and RF Mod.

if you got a ps3 youre gonna want to just sack up and get netflix. its really nice that you can stream it through your system.

try rollercoaster tycoon? that used to be my jam.. zoo tycoons tight too, similarish to simcity/civilization sorta...

Same here, Im getting surgery next week so I'll be lying around for a while. With the PS3 have you tried to plug it into the dvd player and run it through that? I use to have to do that with my xbox. As for tv series, southland's pretty good, Tosh.o isnt really a series but its entertaining, Reno 911, Family Guy, That 70's show, king of queens, seinfeld(obviously), the office a cool ps3 game is resistance 2

And the hard restart on the PS3 didnt work, I think the RF mod has to be fucked... no inputs on the PS3, and the inputs on the comcast box dont seem to work either... but if someone has theirs hooked up to their HDVR box, let me know, dying to play some skate 3.

Watch the chicago code. Play GTA san andreas multiplayer mod for PC, I've wasted soo much time on the game its retarded, but it's just so fun.

spore is reeeeally tight me and my roomates all downloaded it when it first came out and logged a while on it. its pretty much a big build up to when you get to space exploration but its a pretty fun game definitely reccomend it had a lot of fun for a solid period of time with it.
