State Patty's Day

So a couple years ago PSU made spring break during St. Patricks day. Students did not like the school taking away their holiday so we created a new one State Patty's day. Every since great animosity has grow against this student created holiday (People come from far and wide to celebrate, its a big deal) and every year they try to take it away.

This year they've out done themselves, 5 police districts, State Police, and A TANK, will be going up against the student body in a fight to prevent the greatest weekend known to college students in the northeast. They claim to make more arrests than there are crimes committed.

No offense, I just need to vent this somewhere and here seems appropriate. I'm from PA, so everyone I know and their mothers go to PSU and I'm so sick of all the "STATE PATTYS IS FINALLY HERE WOOOOOOAAAAAHHHHH" on facebook.

So, because an arbitrarily decided leave was placed over another arbitrary date to get smashed, you're gonna make a new one?

Getting smashed is fun, but no need to cry about it if it's not an official holiday/celebration.

I wasnt around for the creation, I can't speak to how it became so big but it apparently did because THEY BROUGH A TANK to TRY to stop it

I think this is the beginning of the end of state pattys day. They seem to be serious about cracking down this year. At least 6 downtown bars aren't open at all tomorrow, a far cry from two years ago when I was a freshman and they were all open at 10 am. With that being said, I'm excited for the party at my apartment way off campus so I don't think I have much to worry about. Tonight though I'll be on duty in east halls for my RA class. Looking forward to seeing how many dumbass freshmen will get written up tonight.

yes sir. A large number of Penn State newschoolers exist. There are probably at least 50 current students and alumni who are on NS.

btw, I think this tank is unrelated. There is a reserve base nearby, and route 26 (Beaver & College Ave.) is a fairly major throughway in central Pennsylvania.
