Mac OS upgrade question.

So I have a older Macbook that we use just for iTunes. It is running the 10.4.11 OS. I called Apple and they gave me a free upgrade to 10.5.6 OS. My question is, if I upgrade this OS, will I lose all my files, etc..Do I need to back it up before the upgrade? Thanks for the help.

back up your files. it's a new OS, so everything is wiped

Is there a special way to backup itunes?

10.5.6, or 10.6.5? because if its the 10.6.5, it should just install over the 10.4, not be a fresh install unless you designate it as such, but backing up is always a safe bet.

Are you installing Mac OSX 10.5 or iTunes 10.5? They are two totally seperate things.

If it is Mac OSX 10.5, you need to backup. You can use an external drive.

I am going from my OS 10.4.11 to 10.5.6. The disk was sent direct from Apple to upgrade the OS. I need to upgrade the OS on the computer to upgrade to the new iTunes. It's just a computer we use for music.
