Toe Bang?

Today I was skiing and overshot a pretty big jump to flat. I didn't realize it until I got home and I saw that I had a huge blue/green/black/purple bruise on my toe nail. It was pretty gnarly. Does this happen to you guys to?

yup, happens to me. it got so bad that my toe nail just fell off.

Yup. Waiting on my toe nail to fall off at the moment. Guess it'll be two years running with no cute summer sandals for me.

42 days this year....one day at Keystone hitting their medium and large jump lines.....just lost both my big toe nails. Fuck those flat jumps.

Okay, wtf is toe bang/shin bang? I don't think I have ever experienced either of these things...I have spks and the biggest jumps I've hit are around 40 and the only thing that seems to ever hurt is my heels.

To stop toebang just tighten up your buckles on the top of your foot, did it once and have never gotten it again

I've found that the best way to avoid it is to get really tight fitting boots in the heel and ankle. I also got the area around my big toes punched out.

a proper boot fitting (and i mean the sort where they put out shims, blow out your boots, get new insoles) tends to fix this pretty much entirely. You can have amazing boots and still make them more amazing. Nothing wrong with that ever.

Although... I still tend to lose toenails... But this is cause I ski almost every day and I like my boots to fit snug...

SPK squishy toe FTW! I only get shinbang with them when I land really backseat, but thats gonna happen in any boot, really.

shinbang id caused by landing hard backseat.. it makes your shins and your calves hurt suuuper bad.. and toe bang is when you land a itlle front seat and drive your toes into the end of your boots thus making them bang on the front of your boots

toe bang while breaking in new boots is the worst. i had to deal with it the past few days but u just gotta grab ur sack and get over it

u def gotta make sure your liners fit snug so your foot doesnt move around and bang the toe.

i cant even bend my toe anymore from the bang but i got new liners and tape my big toe to the second toe and its been good so far this season.

I think that when your boots are to small, you get shin bang and when your boots are to big you get toe bang. Does that sound right? And yeah about half of my toe is badly bruised haha

toe bang can be avoided by not landing flat, but otherwise its all about fit. whenever your tows have a little space to mover around in, youll prob get a black toenail next hard flast landing. that last buckle on your boots that you thought was pointless (atleast i thot it was) is actually really helpful in keeping your toes cushioned. you can also get it from boots that have a toe box thats all packed out

Just lost mine, like literally 5 minutes ago. It was real loose so I pulled it off.

I actually have a pair of fantastic boots, I land deep and it never hurts, but I had to rent a pair of rental boots just for one day. Of course these shitty ass boots give me honestly the worst toe bang of my life.
