So as dictators fall and regimes crumble who is going to take over? Im sitting here looking at what is happening in Lybia thinking ok Gadhafi is bad news for the country and clearly a tyrant, but who will replace him? Doesnt it make the region that much less stable? Could these dictators (Gadhafi and Mubarak) be the least bad choice only because the instability left when they are removed is a far more threatening to regional stability in respects to crude and oil transportation via the suez canal. Thoughts?

Well last time I checked all the protesters were fighting for democracy right? So what makes you think that there gonna allow some douche bag tyrant take over there country.

well usually a militant force siezes control while people are still protesting in the streets. that why Gadhafi is in power now. And Im not suggesting that whoever takes over will remain in power just that if the people kick that leader out too there still is no stable government. Its not like the day these guys leave the countries will run like a well oiled (no pun intended) democracy. Its gonna take years to create a respectable democracy.

I agree that it'll take years for them to establish a democracy. My best guess though is that the UN will overlook everything thats going on to make sure that some crazy regime doesn't start fucking shit up. I guess sources in the Pentagon are now saying that the US military is now coming up with options for Obama so if worst comes to worst they can intervene.

Of course this is not going to happen though. I see Gadhafi falling to the protestors in the next week. They've already taken over two of the biggest cities in Libya and I don't see Gadhafis forces lasting much longer, especially if foreign militaries become involved.

Overall though I like what this year of 2011 has brought, it will most defiantly go down in history books as the year of the revolution in modern times. Who knows what other countries will be next, my best bet is that it will be Algeria since they're already showing signs of resistance. This is a really exciting time right now though, once all these dictators are overthrown our world will finally be on pace for a world of peace and thats flat out awesome. In a few years our only worries will be China and N. Korea. Its a shame that the people in those countries probably have no idea of whats going on right now because of the strict censorship by their government.

Yea but every single day the world becomes more and more globalized which means that countries are starting to identify themselves less as individuals and more as a global society. I believe that the bigger our global society gets than the more recognition trouble some countries receive by the rest of the world.

he set it up that way though. most of his army is weak so that they cant do to him what he did to king idris. His special forces are all from his home region (apparently extremely loyal) and controlled by his sons not to mention he is paying mercinaries out of sudan, chad, and somolia to basically kill people that oppose him. I doubt the core of his military will go anywhere considering Gaddafi aready said the only way he is leaving is if hes dead.

The Israelis must be shivering in their boots. Reep what you sow motherfuckers.

The Israelis preferred to allow these dictatorships and monarchies because they could bribe off the leaders and have them control their people. Similar to what the United States did in South America. Now the Israelis see the people they paid getting knocked down left and right, and all they have is a bunch of people ready for change. I wonder when they will start having a tough time building settlements in Palestine, already the UN resolution against the settlement building was vetoed only by the US, showing just how alone in the world they really are.

Haha yeah right dude, theres no way that the US or the UN would allow anyone to touch Israel. If anyone did then I'd guarantee that the US would intervene if anything drastic happened. Plus if it did happen the Israelis would be ready for it. They've been surrounded by very extreme countries that hate their guts since their existence. Their ready for someone to try and fuck with them 24/7, theres no way that there gonna let shit happen to them. The Israeli military is almost more advanced than the US.

Also I don't know why your hating on Israel so much. When your country is surrounded by people that hate you, you have to go to drastic measures to protect country. If your against their existence in the first place well then you have bad moral standards because everyone in the world should comfort the jews after what they went through in WWII. They want peace just as much as every reasonable person in the world does. Its just that the countries surrounding them once again hate them, so you cant blame them for defending themselves. Also out of the sixteen countries I've been to on this planet, Israel was by far the coolest, most unique, and had the absolute nicest people out of any where.

The people who live around Israel don't just hate them for no reason. The Israelis have been dicks to the Palestinians on multiple occasions. Not saying what some extremists do is right but just because millions of Jews got killed in the Holocaust does not give Israel is above fault.

Alright well you tell me. Do you world to be ran by Israel or Palestinian? FYI there are tons of extremist in Palestinian. Its literally crawling with them. I don't know about you but I would much rather have the Israelis be in charge of that part of the world, just saying.

i like your optimism, i really do, im just not so sure that instability = path to world peace. Tribalized nations have not been able to form successful democracies, or even successfully functioning states without dictators. hopefully democracy works for these people and they can enjoy the freedoms that we in north america enjoy but i just dont see that happening based upon historical precedent.

Yeah I definitely agree that history is going against them. But also these tribalized countries haven't ever received this amount attention from first world countries. I mean for the past couple of weeks these revolts have been the number one headlines in the news. We didn't see this kind of attention when massacres were taking place in Rwanda, Sudan, Uganda, etc...

I bet that if all the countries in OPEC became democracies than our gas would be much cheaper. It would also be cheaper if drilled in Alaska, but thats a completely different topic ha.

For sure man. I just went to a forum with a speaker who escaped from Austria after the Nazi takeover and clawed his way to the US. He wasn't a citizen of a country for 2 years and the way he spoke about freedom and the opportunities his coming to America gave him was incredible. The simple things he wasn't allowed to do anywhere in Europe as he made his way to the ports in Portugal like worship freely, work, or attain citizenship.....he was able to do all of that in the US. I couldn't imagine going through that.

Yeah dude, but how would you feel if you were the Palestinians? People who lived there for 100s of years and had their own nation, then out of nowhere the UN and US decide to take your land and make a country out of thin air. Of course you are going to be surround by people who hate you when you openly took their land. Now the Palestinians live like refugees in their own fucking country. I am a Bosnian refugee myself, so if i'll align myself with anyone, it will be anybody who has to go through the plight of losing their home.

Maybe if the UN and US did a better job of placing them somewhere, like in Argentina where they were offered land to build their nation, instead of giving into the zionist movement, they wouldn't have these problems.

The UN resolution was only blocked by one major nation, the US. All the other countries with UN veto power(France, UK, Russia) didn't make any hints that they would veto it, and voted for the resolution against the building of settlements. It just goes to show that the Israelis are getting too big for their britches and now in the face of change around them they will need to learn to play nice instead of doing anything they want.

oh yes the jewish people have NEVER been kicked out of their own land... oh wait that's happened multiple times.

to take either side in the arguement is fucking retarded. the only reason you should take a side is if you belong to those people. if you don't, then you have no say and you look moronic thinking that you do. both people have gone through a ton of shit.
