Girls that are in sororities...

umm if you're a girl and in a sorority/ know people in them etc. could you answer a few questions for me? i'll dole out the karmas no problem.

1. what are the girls like? by this i mean, are they mostly generally nice girls, or are they pretty much the standard high school cheer leaders that are hoes all grown up?

2. What is the substance abuse like? Is there a lot of pressure to engage in activities you don't feel comfortable with?

3. Was/is the experience rewarding? would you recommend it?

my lady wants to join a sorority but isn't quite sure, she thinks its a bunch of nice girls that just like to have fun in a responsible manner.

i think its a bunch of sluts that get shit faced and bang random dudes.

Nope. I have tons of friends, I have a beautiful girlfriend, and I could take my friends and go on the same trips that any frat goes on and probably have more fun since I don't have to worry about the other 120 bros on the trip with me. To each his own, I guess.

Before I go to bed, though, I do have one question. What's the going rate for roofies these days?

who goes to bed? just crush another four loko and then bang out some slampiece. Like any good bro, i stockpiled flats of the loko before it was made all canadianized. i currently only have 233 left. kinda a bummer that the glory days are fading.

This argument never dies, it really all depends on the school. Just like every college is unique so is every greek system and every house in that system. I am not going to say she should join but if she does she will probably enjoy it like most people that go through the process. If she doesnt do it she will probably be fine and enjoy herself as well, college is a fun place. Its her decision not yours let her decide if she wants to do it.

my girl was in a sorority in under grad and in grad school before becoming a doctor...I'm answering on behalf of her....no, they're not all just a bunch of sluts that like to get wasted and bang dudes. some of them are, but not all.

1) yes, the girls were awesome and she met some of her best friends in the sororities. no, the girls were not hoes - they're just regular people just like you and me.

2) substance abuse is everywhere. sorority or not. no, there wasn't pressure to engage in activities that you don't feel comfortable with. alcohol was the main "substance".

3) yes, the experience was highly rewarding. she met life long friends there, made some very valuable contacts that have helped her succeed, and she would do it all over again.

I'm actually in a fraternity (same thing is a sorority but founded differently, yes there are fraternities that are female, just means that they did not have a male influence as to why they were started.. but also refereed to as sororities for logistics purposes)

I say in, because it really is a life long thing. I am still friends with my sorority sisters, some of which are my best/closest friends and a few from other sororities from my campus that will always be my friends.

Anyway, it really is what you make of it. I made it through my first 2 years of school with enough friends but saw a lot of people in the greek community that seemed to be getting a lot more out of what the school had to offer. As soon as I joined I was 200% more active in what was happening. I was attending basketball games, and playing on the intramural teams, I decided to take some leadership roles around campus including president of the ski and snowboard club, I met people I would have never met, and started doing community service which I had never really partaken in before. All while keeping my GPA up.

I think it is am even more amazing thing after the fact. My fraternity has over 200,000 members. That is a massive network. I haven't run into some of the situations that my other sisters have, cause well.... I might be the only one trying to break into the action sports world, but so many of my friends have gotten their current positions because of relations to the sorority. Contest sways are a no brainer when all you have to do is post it on the national website. The yearly events make catching up so enjoyable and fun.

I know there are party sororities out there. My sister was in one of them before dropping out of college her first year (she has since graduated).

In regards to what type of girls.... Mine was a lot of cheerleaders and dancers and that sort of thing, but we also held the highest GPA of any organization on campus outside of the honors societies. From my chapter I have a sister that is one of the cheerleaders for the anaheim ducks, I have a sister that was the valedictorian at UCLA Law, I have a sister that just survived cancer, I have a sister that is now working at the New Yorker, I have a sister now working at one of the top bakeries in the US, I have a sister that plans non-profit across the US volunteer trips, I have a sister who is the VP of event planning for Hilton hotels, I have a sister who is 1 year away from being a general practitioner...
It seriously is an amazing thing if you get in with the right chapter.

i knew a lot of really great girls in sororities in college...and i also knew a lot who were of the hoe-ish persuasion if you will.

as somebody stated before me, if someone was a hoe before, they'll be a hoe in a sorority, and if they weren't, it's pretty doubtful they'll suddenly start.


i wasn't in a frat or anything like that, because i didn't feel like any of their "benefits" were for me or fit in line with what I wanted. People just like to hate on greek life because let's face it - they do attract a lot of tools (male and female) but in the end it's just another social group. not worth throwing a fit over
