Phone Upgrade

Thanks for confirming. I definitely wanna go android platform, my iphone is just pissing me off to no end, it lasted 1.2 years then turned into a steaming pile of shit (I wish the iphone was as good as my macbook). I'm definitely not going with AT&T though, but I'll peep those phones. What I really want is to get the next released best android platform (hopefully on a Morotola or Samsung made phone) on Verizon network, within days of it's release. I think that's the best bet for having a good phone that will last a 2 year contract without crapping out. I wanna get 4g but I don't think I'll get it yet, maybe next generation, when the cost comes down and there are more phones that can run it. Or are the android phones coming out in 1-2 months 4G phones? Cause I'm sick of this 3g bullshit, the internet on my iphone is almost completely useless.

I chose the iphone for its compatibility in Japan. you can also type in pretty much any language.. and it syncs up with my mac quite well. it's quite user-friendly all around.

Really for japan? Their wireless technology and infrastructure is far beyond ours. An iphone would be laughable in Japan, a mere childs toy. Wouldn't it? That's what I've heard and read.

Just keep in mind that 4G is not true 4G. A lot of the new Androids coming out will be "4G", but not all areas have 4G yet. Like here in Denver, their are only pockets of 4G. If you go to BOulder, you do not have 4G. Keep in mind, the iPhone made the AT&T network seem shitty. I have a HTC INSPRIRE 4G on the network and it runs awesome. No dropped calls, very fast internet, great recaeption. Look at the Motorola Atrix, it has a dual core processor. It's very fast. Also runs Android 2.2 with MotoBlur. It also has 16GB of NAND flash, 960x540 PenTile LCD, 1GB DDR2 RAM and that beast of a NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU. There is a Qualcomm MDM6200 HSPA+ chip. It's a amazing phone. The cost for the 4G devices are pretty affordable. The HTC INSPRIE is only $99 and the Atrix is $199. Just FYI.

I am going to assume she means that if she travels, it will work around the world. If you get a VERIZON phone, it cannot work around the world. A lot of AT&T phones come out of the box ready to work on the network in Japan. It works on the 2100mhz network.

yes they are, but I don't know about the latest in japanese cell phones. certainly 3 years ago they were way ahead of us. their cell phones just make so much more sense. you can do the bump thing with a standard phone there, for instance.

except that everyone and their mom has been using itunes to organize their music for the past 7 years

It is rumored that it is going to be completely redesigned, and will most likely feature a Dual Core processor, more RAM, and possibly a better camera. Apple will most likely release IOS 5 along with the next iPhone, so everyone comparing the current iPhone to all of the new Android phones has to realize that the current iphone is months behind them, and in this industry that is a lot of time (and i still think the current version of IOS is way better than the current version of android, which most android phones aren't even running yet).

I've been an iPhone user (and more recently developer) for over 4 years, and have always been more than satisfied with it. And now you can buy it with Verizon, so you cant complain about the carrier.
