I need ideas for GoPro mounts

I searchbarred, and couldn't really find anything. Post a pic of one or more of your setups for mounts. That would be very helpful, thankssssss.

boot mount is something i am considering doing

the pole is the obvious one

chest is super sick in powder because it gets some snow on it but not covered by it

and i like the side of helmet mount wher you can see pretty much the whole body.

I saw two guys this weekednd with some curved pvc piping, and a baseplate which they mounted their gopro, perfect idea for a steady cam.

The cool one I have seen, was about a 5 foot monopod strapped into a backpack pointing up and back away, with the camera angled down a little back towards the skier, so you get the skier and the slope in the shot. It was held in place by a couple little bars that formed a triangle across the shoulder straps, with the pole at the opposite corner. So pretty much you get an overhead angle from slightly behind the skier. You see the pow pow flowing around/over the skier without sticking onto the camera.

So pretty much for open pow, and follow shots, not trees, or park. But the angle sounds amazing.

oh and ive just been screwing around with it around my house, because i just got it today, and looking at the video, it looks nothing like the quality in edits ive seen filmed by gopros. is it because im in 720? should i switch to 1080? just wondering...

No. The reason the edits you see are super sick, is because of the professional  post production work that goes into them.

You should definitely get a polarizing filter.

YES. I skied an amazing line through the lower pinnacles at Big Sky yesterday, and it was a sunny pow day. The entire video was washed out and awful.

A polarizing filter cuts out reflected light (off of snow/water/etc.) So on sunny days your shots are still crisp, with good contrast and it seems to make the video smoother too because it cuts out a percentage of the light, so there is less interference between frames.

Ive used an ice scraper, an old paper towel holder, my backpack, a helmet mount pretty much anything sturdy with a good place for a mount

GoPros look the best on sunny days. Filming inside, in flat light, at night, or any time/place without bright lighting they dont look anywhere near their best

Unless of course your anywhere near water or snow. Then bright is bad.

Just like any of the other mounts...you unscrew the base and move the housing to the strap

Someone should do a back mount just for shits and gigs.  For big mountain skiing, I think the footage would be sick.  Seeing what you are dropping off of.

Do you think if I put a mount on the back of my helmet I could point the camera backwards at the rider hitting the feature? Like I would go first and somebody would follow me.

i have seen people put the mount on a pole to film others easily and be able to twist it around and film themselves
