wrestling. most athletic sport.

take away equipment, take away distractions.  It is the only sport where participants rely on only themselves to match up against other participants who are the same weight as the others.  track may be the other exception, except for that is purely a linear sport.  Wrestling encompasses everything on an even competition feild.

Not only do you need to be really strong from head to toe, you have to have the cardio of distance runner, really good stroke technique, be able to hivemind with your other rowers, and be able to maintain that focus and strength for 5 kilometres while being bitched at by your coxswain.

I am not arguing what sport takes the most athletic ability to play at the high school level. I am saying that professional basketball players as a group are the most naturally athletic people in the world.

basket ball   making a hard shot is harder then a goal in soccer or hockey... i dont care you have an active goltender   your dealing wiht a 9 inch ball and a 18 inch  net and rim.....    not much error.. i knw that some hockey players are snipers and all..   but a three point shot swoosh is so fuckin hard to do on a consitant basis..   i love it all..

and to the op.. dunk contest rigged....  Kia the offical vecxhial of the nba... kinda funny that it was a kia he jumped over.!......    I was laughing so hard at the choir singing i belvive i can fly...

and the two bucket dunk was the best dunk in the contest since spud web.

yeah it may be a 9inch ball and 18 inch rim but hockey is trying to shoot a 3 inch puck past a goal tender with a stick. Not saying its harder but I definitely don't think its easier.

not at alll..... there both hard....  dunking is just a much higher persentage shot.....   the one thing about hocky and BBall is good passing...    that is what makes my day

nothing beats tape to tape all the way down the ice. It frustrates me when both teams are playing the chase game for like 5 minutes or having to dump the puck every possession.

False. There are plenty of centers in the NBA that if you threw a baseball to them, or kicked a soccer ball at them, or put them on a pair of ice skates would absolutely suck. This goes for alot of the other players as well. I personally can't even watch basketball because it's just watching tall lanky people jog up and down the court. I played basketball growing up and some of the best players, were some of the least athletic people just because they were a foot taller than everyone else. A true sport that tests the athleticism of the players doesn't put such an advantage to those that are awkwardly tall.

Athletes adjust to any sport, and there are plenty of NBA players that I wouldn't consider athletic by any means. There's a difference between being able to put a ball in a basket and being athletic.

I like how everyone is ripping on golf but there has been a movement in the past little while and a lot of the golfers have become very physically fit, not all of them but the best ones usually are in shape. Not too say that they are on the same level as a basketball or hockey player. But it requires a completely different set of needs.

Again I am not talking about high school sports. Tall lanky high school basketball players don't make it to the NBA, they don't do 360 dunks from the free throw line, they don't one hand dunk on two baskets at the same time.

You have to be not only tall but SUPER ATHLETIC and able to have excellent hand eye and body coordination as well as explosive speed, jumping ability, endurance, and mental focus.

I am also not arguing that other sports are harder. Sure put a NBA center on skates and he would suck, but put him on skates since he could walk and I bet you would be surprised.

The guys in the NBA are super athletes, there are other sports that require more specialized skills, that is not the fucking argument. I could probably destroy 99% of the NBA in foosball, that doesn't make me more athletic. Take an NBA guy from a young age and teach them virtually any team sport or track and field and they would dominate.

You guys are delusional, or don't know the meaning of the word athletic if you think otherwise. Stand next to a NBA player some time, you don't even feel real. They are so physically superior you feel like they are from the future or a different planet. Sure they cant throw 3's or rip pow but they are way, way, way more athletic than any other professional sport.

haha I think it's funny how strongly you feel about this.

Put a NBA center on skates since he could walk and he'd still suck. The majority of professional basketball players would suck at any other sport, they chose basketball because they never stopped growing when they should have. The only people that are truly "athletic" are the guards that are under 6 feet and still manage to make it to the NBA. The rest are just goons
