Whadddup...So im trying to decide if skinning with Hellbents is a good idea. Have any of you tried this out? If so, how is it, what do you like and not like about it?? I know this isn't the ideal setup but im addicted to hunting pow and cant afford another set of sticks right now.

never tried it but i cant imagine it would work too well with such a small amount of the ski actually touching the snow, that is if it is on a hard packed skin track. if you are making your own trail i dont think it would be a problem.

hey man, i skin with two year old EPs (rockered to the boot) and i don't have much of a problem with them. There ae obviously better options out there and if i was really getting into it i would probably do a different set up but for the most part the skis work fine.

Skinning is way easier going up with skinning specific tools, but who wants to ski down some gnar on floppy boots, sketchy bindings, and foam skis? Until you use skinning specific gear, you won't regret not having them. It's like living without the internet or cell phones, it was fine until you had them, now we can't live without. I've skinned a lot with Surface One Life's and it's fine. In steep places on the skin track it's always doable but tougher than it needs to be.

ive done it, its fine. when ur skinning u want ur contact point under your foot so the rocker isn't bad at all

I think the rocker is less of an issue than the weight...those things are fkn heavy. Also not quite as versatile if you're doing any spring skinning, but for pow, of course, they're awesome.

i skin with the 2011 obsethed and they are rockerd as hell and there fine and i have seen people with hellbents and pontoons skin and havnt heard any complaints, id say go for it but dont get lightweight touring bindings with hellbents i would only use marker dukes

it's just suck on steep switchbacks. you'd probably be find otherwise minus the weight issue.

done it works fine but kinda sucks for long treks and they get heavy as hell with lots of snow on the fatty ski surface and kick turns are sorta hard. do able but only really recomended for side stash type terrain

yup. steep switch backs suck with bents. also, they weigh a billion pounds so after awhile it can get really tiring. It's definitely manageable, just get your legs in shape and have good placement points on your switchbacks.

It's fine, I do it all the time. You;re going to get a lot more tired than people with lighter setups though. Hellbents and trekkers is not fun if that's the route you are taking. But the way I see it, I'm skinning up for skiing down, and I'd rather be on Hellbents
