just do this
mount the skis without a lifter...ski them, any shop can just change the screws to a longer screw, put a lifter on (the hole pattern is obviously the same) and then ski them with a lifter...best of both worlds
id honestly say i WOULDNT put a lifter on Motherships, but thats just me

lifters suck for sliding rails....and i thought they were counterproductive with real fat skis anyway

most of the time a lifter is uesless on a fat ski, because the purpose of a lifter is to have more leverage over a ski, to iniatate turns quicker. on a fat ski, the width kindve takes the place of a lifter, because your never going to get boot drag, ect on a fat board. Yes a lifter will make rails harder...think of rails with a lifter like walking with stilts, your higher up so your balance suffers

so would there be an advantage to have the lifters in the pow?

no
you don;t need to switch edge to edge really fast in pow, and espically on a fatter ski.

your not going to notice a huge difference on wid skis, the closer you can get to your ski the better for park and powder. If you were racing gates or using a carving ski lifters are good. the closer to the ski you are the better, for balance, and getting a better natural feeling and flex of the ski. and it will be a tad lighter.. just your local shop if they can mount them wothout the lifter, if not it's not the end of the world.

You wont notice the difference. I have a pair of PRs with rossi free ride 12s witha lifter - the lifter is 1cm thick and made of plastic .... its weighs next to nothing. I also own and ride a pari of 1080s without lifters .... i cant tell the difference when riding, and that extra 1cm WONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHEN SLIDING RAILS ... technicaly yes since your higher off the rail it would be harder etc... but i cant tell the diff
