Last week, members of the 4chan-affiliated hacktivist collective known as “Anonymous” (once again) set their sights on the controversial hate-mongering congregation of the Westboro Baptist Church, issuing an open letter which calls on the church to “[c]ease & desist your protest campaign in the year 2011″ or “meet with the vicious retaliatory arm of ANONYMOUS.”
The letter goes on to warn that “the damage incurred will be irreversible, and neither your institution nor your congregation will ever be able to fully recover.”
Yesterday, the WBC replied with an open letter of its own, egging the “anonymous coward crybaby ‘hackers’” to “bring it.” WBC’s youth leader Megan Phelps-Roper took to Twitter to thank Anonymous for their threats, adding that “Your efforts to shut up God’s word only serve to publish it further.”
