Nordica Ace of Spades boot?

What are the pro and cons about this boot? what is your expirence skiing with this boot and would you recomend this boot?

got a pair this winter, got about 20 days on them and i'm in love !

very easy to slip on and off
great shock absorbing, i'm not a really pro skier, but when others were saying how hard landings were today, i didn't even notice

also the most comfortable boot i've ever worn + if you only fasten the middle buckle they're excellent for walking/hiking

+ this might seem a bit random, but if i tighten the buckles very tight the boot is as stiff as a block of concrete
and if i tighten them while slightly flexing forward they're very soft and forgiving while still fitting snugly around my foot ....

flex is rated between 100-130 ? its a progressive flex so it depends on how much you press forward....

also the vibram soles are a plus when having to walk on harder surfaces...

they also have a similar tongue design as the Full tilts or the dalbello krypton series, giving the boot a progressive flex...

they're also suited for rather wide feet, so make sure they fit you well

if they're right for you you'll be blessed with a super comfy boot :)

The flex (correct me if Im wrong) doesnt really come from the tongue. If you take the liner out of the boot you will notice 2 little wing things that expand the further you flex forward which makes the flex get stiffer the further you go (progressive flex).

That being said. I have double sixes and have no complaints about them.

yeah i've seen that too, but i'm quite sure the tongue is also responsible for the flex, since i've tried both the double sixes and the ace of spades and the AoS tongue was def. stiffer than the one on the DSs....

i had boot bang problems, but as soon as i removed the green rubber pad in the back of the boot they were awesome. they are so comfortable now, and the baggy clip is gold!
at first i buckled it too tight and they didnt flex one bit. you have to play around with the buckles a bit too see which works best for you.

I've had loads of boots over the years and am very happy with mine. I took that baggy clip off though as soon as I paid for them.
Pros:
Stiff progressive Flex
Three buckle
Vibram soles
rad colors
100mm last

Cons:
?
Not every boot works for everyone

haha, yeah, when i tried them on i asked the bootfitter what the clip on the back was for, when he explained i tought he was pulling my leg, but then i saw he was serious :)

100 mm shell last isn't that wide, not wide at all.

 I got a pair this season and they are great, all over the mountain. the progressive flex deal is a nice feature, from jibbing to sending I havent out flexed them yet and Im pretty big. 5 11 215 pounds.

 no shin bang, but i think they can get rid of the little toe gel peice, it makes the boot cramped up front.

 Great shock absorbtion, similar to SPK's, but not so spongy, you can really get after it in this boot.

 they look ok, and the buckles are nice, good large power strap. Vibram soles are ok I guess, but I dont really know what they are for or care to look.

 If they fit properly, I recommend them to anyone looking to spend the cash.

for walking on pavement or rock scree and not effing up non-replaceable plastic soles commonly found on most ski boots.

vibrum soles are a must for me as I use my legs to access the goods more than lifts.

+if you snowmobile in and stand on the sideboards, you'll be amazed how fast your soles wear off ....


+rubber soles are so much smoother to walk with on stairs and stuff + they're also a tad bit more silent :)

they are such a sick boot. you'll see more companies dumping the 4 buckle boot in the next few seasons. the 45 degree heel lock that the 2nd buckle gives you really keeps your heel in place. by far, this is one of the best out of the box boots i have owned. i just added a custom footbed to them and they are even bettter. but don;t buy based on these reviews, go see a bootfitter to know for sure. nothing sucks worse than boots that don't fit your feet.

It blows my mind that some companies still don't use vibram soles or at least replaceable plastic ones. I hope next years Dalbello's have them.

Next year Nordica is replacing the Speedmachine series of boots with 3 Buckle boots very much like the Ace design. Seems to be where alot of companies are going...

I just got these boots a couple of weeks ago and they fit amazingly, super comfy and great shock absorbtion. Only thing is i'm still getting shin bang, would you recommend doing this to my boots as well? Does it affect your stance and how they ski?

I got some of these boots at the end of this year. First off, the shock absorption is really amazing. The progressive flex is also very nice especially since I'm a bigger guy. I had some il moro's before hand and the ace of spades is in a completely different class. No the il moros had a 98 width while the aces have a 100. That might not seem like a lot but it really is. I ride  pretty much anything you put me on and in the turns this boot gives great support even when your taking it easy. It's not that forward so there isn't a lot of pressure on the front of the boot. I think that the overall 3 buckle design they have actually holds your foot in very well. If I had only one thing to complain about it would be that I really liked the ratcheting top strap the il moros had compared to the ace of spades Velcro.

No it does not.
It doesnt have the same bootboard
no baggy pant clip
smaller power strap
But it is pretty much the same thing. I have them and they work fine for me.

The only problem i have is that they are a little to stiff for me causing shinbang. I am 6' 165.

Does anyone find that they make quite a loud crunching noise when you flex forward? I tried some on that seemed to fit well but could not ignore the noise. Is that normal or did I just happen to test a defective pair?

I have the DuB 6's and I'm wondering if I should up grade to the Ace of Spades ?? The DuB 6's fit Soo nice and I dont have one bad thing to say about them, just wondering how much nicer the AOS are compared to the DuB's?

i have the dub6s waiting to get abused here, but does antone know if there are those baggy pants clips for them? cause there are holes for it but no clip...?

I have about a season and half on my A of S boots and they are amazing. I would always recommend going to a boot-fitter though. I had custom foot beds put into mine, took out those green shims in the back, and a few tweaks done to the shell for comfort and I can ride all day in them and not have a problem. Now I'm not your average size guy for an NSer so keep that in mind. I am 6'1" and workout quite a bit and every bit of 200 lbs most the time. My calfs are HUGE and these boots work for me. Some highlights are:

- the shock absorption on them are amazing! I've cased some bad landing (main because I suck at life) but on the norm i will air out 40 ft all day. I am a bigger guy remember and I feel no pain in my feet after a day in the park.

- power transfer and feel to the ski is amazing. Quick turns and ski feedback is immediate with these boots. I feel in control the whole time going through the groomers, park, between trees, or the little back country I touch (live in Michigan).

- the progressive flex on the boot is awesome as well. flex standard is i believe at 90 but when you force down on the boot it will go up to 130 and when your pushing it that is great to have.

- The liner and shell design on the boot is very comfortable, the general tongue is similar to fulltilts with the three buckles holding my foot very well in the boot. It takes a few trips to dial in the buckles so that no pressure points are present but once it's worked out they are amazing. The upper Velcro strap is large but I tend to think it doesn't offer a lot of holding power. I have seen a lot of people replace it with booster straps and say it makes a nice difference. I'm thinking about trying this myself.

-  Design/color scheme is person preference but you shouldn't base your decision off that anyways. Plus your pants will cover them up.

The liners are a bit different, though neither are ground breaking. I put an Intuition in mine

The Vibram soles are cool, but you can order them from Nordica.

I ended up putting a booster too on mine too.

The clip is cool....but not worth paying more money.

Honestly the Double Six is a good boot, and you can dial the flex in pretty easily.

I love the boot except for one thing... the buckles suck a boomer. I'm one of those people who undo their boots on the chair on the way up and every time I go to buckle them again the buckles are all over the place. Also if they get ice in them they turn into a gigantic bastard to deal with. SPK buckles are king, I wonder if I can retrofit some on to these boots without screwing up the flex.
