Super Light Park Setup

Hey everybody. I'm starting this thread because I'm super tired of skiing on heavy ass anthems with px 12s. Next year I'm going for the full super lightweight setup, any suggestions? I have full tilts right now, so those don't need changing, but I was thinking Moment Reno Jibs, On3p Blue Steeles, or Rossi s4 jibs. Anyone know how they perform? Also, does anyone know which ones are actually the lightest; I can't seem to find any weight stats on the moments or the rossis...

umm i would recomend armada alphas because there incredably light... for boots it all depends what fits you best

My Nine Life's with Griffons setup is pretty light, not too durable though.

atomic skis are pretty light. they use a foam core in the tip to reduce tip weight s]and increase swing rate.
id say some punks, griffins, and full tilts would be the lightest

a friend of mine has a pair of head JO pros with mojos and they're incredibly light, really excellent parkplank altough i don't think they're very well suited for intensive railsliding ...

Not masterminds, I'm trying to get a sidewall ski next year. Also, I already have full tilts, so boots aren't an issue. I was thinking for bindings probably sth 12/14 drivers, or griffons. Anyone know which ones are lighter? Also, when I felt the rossi s4 jibs in the shop, they were incredibly lightweight, but I feel like people use them pretty much exclusively for pipe.... What about their durability on rails?

Sth12's drivers are a better bindings than griffons, they are worth the minor extra weight. Griffons are plasticy in areas that get a lot of pressure (specifically the sides on the heel). STH 12 non-drivers weight the same as griffons if I remember correctly. Anyways, go to a shop, compare a bunch of bindings, and make sure you buy a binding that fits your din setting.

As for s4's, their super light, incredibly stable (very stiff torsionally), nice stiff flex but they still have a poppy/lively feel (deff. no dead weight). Their one of the most durable park skis ever. Also, they ski well everywhere, not just in the pipe, they are great for jumps, rails, and all-mountain.

I'm 5'8, 130lbs, expert skier, and i have mine mounted dead centre with px10's, my boots are ft's. They are awesome on rails because their so frigin light, super stable on jumps, such a fun park ski. Skied mine 14 times, and other than minor cosmetic damage, they look brand new, very durable skis.

So yah, great skis for all-mountain/park, durable, and light weight. PM me if you have anymore questions.

What's that supposed to mean? I was simply saying that I'd recently gotten new boots that also happen to be nice and they won't need replacing for a long time. No need for hate.

Haha. No I'm pretty strong already. I'm just not tryin to ski with heavy ass skis anymore. Like even if you could run a 2:00 min mile in hiking boots wouldn't you still want to wear spikes?

My setup is 176 Reno Jib with FKS 120's and Hot Dogger's. Insanely light setup for sure. I'd say get FKS 120's on here, if you can't find any then get FKS 140's or STH driver 12 or 14's.

Skis break within 20 days of riding. Bindings may or may not rip out depending on how hard you ride.

he just asked for the lightest setup.

but as long as we're talking, surfaces are mega fun, but not durable in any sense of the word, and griffons are flimsy little things.

Well I'm obviously not tryin to have skis that break super fast..... and you don't have to be weak to want a light setup. IMO it's more fun to ski park on a light setup. Oh and thanks for the reno jib review.

i ski watchlifes with griffons. lightest setup out of all my friends.
but the watchlifes are deterioration out from under my feet, and the griffons just feel frail, all plastic and stuff.
but i'm not very heavy, and i ski probably over 90% rails, so i don't require a super burly binding..

Lightest setup I can think of that'll still be super durable and fun, I'm pretty sure LTEs are lighter than the 3 skis you've mentioned (although all 3 of them are pretty light).

Bamboo core = light and poppy, really durable edges, soft in the tip and tail but stiff underfoot (can both butter easily and stomp big jumps), they're a really fun ski, no question.

You should just rock Hellbents and Dukes for a season in the park, then next year anything will feel light.

If you want stats on actual gear rather than people trying to vindicate whatever they ended up buying, TGR has a gear weight thread... its a few years old, but the threads there have updated stats.

stick wiht this, light isnt always right..... light bindings(griffins squires)=easly broken bindings  light skis+ well im not sure what they equel depends on what kind of riding u do

Head JOs and Blueberry lemon are very light, and so is the AR7

Head Mojo/Peak bindings are lighter than most everything

Rossignol/Look bindings are going to be your heaviest (FKS Excluded) so stay away from like the Axial and PX bindings if weight is a factor

Yes, Jo pros are comfortably light.  i ride the 09/10 model

The only solid binding i can say that is lighter then the head mojo is the marker griffon/jester/etc.  But I ride the jo pros with head mojo 12s,  it kind of balances out the weight so that the ski isnt ridiculously light and feels a lot more stable on everything.

i have yet to pick up a lighter combo... and i have some griffons on Volkl Kendos, the binding does feel a bit heavier than Mojos, due to the big ass spring in the heel

FKS are durable but definitely not light.
what are you basing your opinion off of other than that it's cool to ride FKS?

LTE's with griffons would be super light, but if you want a decent lightweight binding go with STH14 Driver.

Both are two heavy bindings. Well actually, the more I think on it, They aren't heavy unless you have no leg strength.

How much do YOU weigh? That will determine to a big extent what you can get away with both in terms of ski and binding.
If you're like 120lb you'll get away with a binding like a Marker Squire but if you're up around 200 you'll want something burlier like a Pivot 14 or STH14, regardless of it weighing a bit more.

K2 Silencer weighs hardly anything if I remember correctly.

I rode my hellbents for everything for a while and when i got back on my park skis they felt like nothing. On another not though, i have owned both the blus steeles and the jibs. They are both stupid light and really really fun. The BS's are wayyyy more fun, but you really can't go wrong with either ski. Pm me if you have any more questions.
