canongl1 is a tight camera. like i said somewhere else it is close to the same as an xl1 they are both 3ccd camera so it has awesome resolution, but is has a fixed lens that zooms pretty far but doesn't get too wide xl1 can use any canon eos lens using an adapter. sony makes one very comparable to it, so check that one out, jvc has a good one too. just make sure it is a 3-chip not a 1-chip
2500 USD 3600 CDn
Its a good camera. If youc an get the SonyVX 2000. Same level as the xl1 but a lil bit cheaper and pretty sick.
We use gl1s and vx2000s. Like the other guy said 3ccd is the best you can get. 1 chip is fine, hell krusty demons of dirts first few films were shot on 1.5 chips.

hey, how do u like the vx-2000, I'm thinking about it, do you use the manuel or automatic controls, also are any of the vids u have up shot on the 2000.
I have the canon gl1 and use it to film skiing and its worth the money for sure.
if you're looking just to do web clips or just filming for fun with you and your buddies, a gl1 isnt necessary, go cheaper, but if you wanna make a movie, a gl1 for sure is your best bet along with a vx2000. if you're really serious, get an xl1, those are not as portable, and 2000$ more expensive
