Cysts from Skiing?

Does anyone get cysts from their ski boots rubbing? I got one on my left foot last year and now i've started to get one on my right foot this year.

My left foot isnt as painful anymore i think because the tissue's mostly dead now. but my right foot is so painful when i ski.

Does anyone else have these or has had them removed???

My friend in college had one that formed on his wrist occasionally, it was aggravated when he played baseball. His dad was a doc so he just drained them himself, but it took a huge needle and balls.

I have those, but they are not nearly as bad. They are most likely bone spurs, or calcium deposits. This is what my doctor told me. He said that if the get really bad you have to get them ground down.

this. i don't think they are cysts. my brother used to get calcium deposits like that from his hockey skates. if its a cyst you can literally smash it with a dictionary (or other heavy book) and it will go away. i know this because my brother also had a cyst on his wrist, and i had the honor of smashing it.
anyways...looks painful but yeah it happens. maybe go to the doc and see if he can do anything to help

I have that. They called Ganglion Cysts and can be pretty painful if they get more swollen. I know my wrist hurts sometimes when it gets a little swollen. You can have it surgically repaired, drained, or take the old fashioned way and hit it with a book to break it. it'll probably come back if you use a book though.

Those are huge haha.

Agreed! You should definately see a bootfitter, and think about a doctor as well. I've fit quite a few boots, and those are some of the gnarliest bone spurs or calcium deposits that I've seen. You need to create some space in the shell (pressing) and probably somer liner mods. a donut of padding around the spure to distribute the pressuremmore evenly. Your body respond to the pressure by building up more calcium. SO it would be best to take care of that sooner rather than later

yeah but this is a problem related to boots so its reasonable to assume that you were some moron 12 year old who thinks they're a bootfitter or that full tilts solve world wide problems. sarcasm is fairly difficult to understand through the computer. my bad.

damn dude this should not be happening! either tighten your boot and wear a thick wool sock to prevent rubbing, or just buy new boots... salomon spk kaos should do the trick

I've got them on both feet. they've never really been painful, so I just let them be. However, this year I've been developping a gnarly tailors bunion on the outside of my left foot. This one is painful. Guess it's time to retire my 4 year old kryptons..

Worst idea ever. If anything, get medium-thin merino wool socks(try icebreakers, THE BEST SOCKS.) and get boots that fit you properly. Believe me, your feet will thank you.

Proper boot fit is key. Boots are your most important part of gear. Skiing with boots that don't fit right is like driving with a lot of play in the steering wheel. One simple thing to make your feet a lot happier is to get some footbeds! Footbeds like the $50 trim-to-fit superfeet are good, but getting a custom footbed is the best. An ideal boot fit is 3-dimensional, so you need to have your foot supported in a stable, neutral position, which enables you to ski a lot better! This also prevents your foot from fully flattening out on the landing of a big jump, and crushing your toenails on the front of your boot. Get some footbeds, and your feet will thank you!

Bah, I swear I've never had a pair of boots that fit me like they should. I can never seem to hold my feet down, custom footbeds didn't make a difference.

I have the same thing, (un)fortunately they've gotten smaller this past season because I'm still on like day 12 maybe? Fuck school.
