Alpine has always been where its at. My perfect day would involve skiing for 12 hours at alpine and fucking marisa miller for the other 12. thats how good it is there

damn dude, the deepest day I've ever had was 26 inches only skied for 3 hours at alta(road opened at 2) and another 18 on top of that. So 44 inches in some untouched spots I found, and still retarded deep even right under the lift where it was "skied out."

Sooooooooo many faceshots.

Alpine is always the sickest!

Sick park in the spring and amazing terrain, plus the high t to get some gnarly lines in.

106" storm is not abnormal, which is the sweet thing.

I miss that place.

I still remember March of 2006 when they got 300"+ in the month.

Definitely still dumping in north lake and will continue all night and most of tomorrow. Hard to argue with 300" of pow before new years then spring skiing for 6 weeks then 60" in 4 days and god knows what else to come. I love tahoe!

Hey there, guess who got first chair at Alpine today? Yep, yours truly. And guess who skied tits-deep powder all day? Yep, me again. And guess who jumped off shit today? Yep, also me. Oh, and guess who had a GoPro on his head the whole time? You guessed it, me. So, from this we will learn: I will be dropping an edit from this storm sometime next week, after I get more footage... the one thing about a GoPro is that you have to make sure its on before each run, but when there's powpowpow, you don't stop to check. You just push the button, go, and see what turns out by the end of the day.

Kirkwood reporting 68" the past 24 hours. Getting close to that record of 76" in 24 hrs once again this year!

130" storm total and by tomorrow they will be closing in on 500 for the year.

Unless you dont have a pass and only have skins/trekkers and a snowmobile. In that case though, there are TONS of pillow spots to skin/hike in the basin that would be alright. Thats what we usually do in the middle of storms when the danger is high.

But umm during a storm like this on a holiday weekend friday? If you left now, you might make it somewhere by first chair in the morning.

From the East Bay: (just east of the Caldecott tunnel, specifically)

On a sunny day with a dry road and no cops: 2:30
On a sunny day with a dry road and cops: 3:00
On a storm day with NO OTHER PEOPLE: 4:00 (this implies leaving at 10:00 PM and expecting to arrive at 2:00AM. It won't happen during the day.)
On a storm day with lots of other people: 5:00+
On a sunny day on the friday before Presidents' weekend: 5:00+
On a storm day on the friday before Presidents' weekend: 7:00+ if you're lucky. People suck at driving, and there will be more people spun out over Donner pass than there were tears shed during Schindler's List, encompassing the time since it came out to present.

I remember a few years ago Mt Rose getting 76" in 24 hours the 2nd or 3rd day I was on spring break visiting. Year before my spring break was that big march back then too. Talk about getting lucky, those were my first introductions to powder.

Hey guys, guess what? Today was even better than yesterday. The snow wasn't as deep (on most runs. If you want to know where it was still waist deep, you'll have to follow me). The slopes were faster and you could actually make some turns.

And guess what opened? Keyhole. I had the best keyhole run of my life so far, or at least it felt like it. Every run was amazing.

How is Alpine these days with opening the High T? They used to open it pretty much no matter what if summit was open. I remember traversing it and hitting chest deep lines off it even in the middle of storms if the wind was not too bad.

Then I also remember the last year I lived there that they started getting really strict for when they would open it (also the first year that Powdr Corp no longer owned it).

DOS- they didn't open High T today. Usually they're really good about getting it open, even on storm days, but NOT on a holiday weekend. There were more people out today than I've seen in a long, long time at Alpine, and I'm pretty sure patrol wanted the injured easily accessible without hiking on their part. It was a smart move on their part.

I don't want to say it where others can read it, but I heard rumor of High T and the ridge tomorrow. Just a rumor though, and probably depends on weather tonight and tomorrow

Just got back from Showdown...This morning I was like, awesome 7 inches accumulated this week should be good. Everything was just about 2 inches on top of ice. Shitty!

I have a handlebar mount that would work http://gopro.com/camera-mounts/handlebar-seatpost-mount/

I've also seen people just duct tape a flat mount to a pole as well.
