if you are refering to his status on the armada team, than i think so. but he's pro, armada just wants to look cool and after there "am" riders win competitions for a couple of years than they can turn pro.
tj, jacob and most pros that went through armada were still "am" after they won comps like the us open, which is stupid
are you fucking stupid? you're no longer an AM when you can rely on just skiing for income. pro is short for profession, which is something you specialize in for a living. there's no magical competition exposure line that once you cross it, you're a professional. that's just idiotic.
except that the terms amateur and pro have NOTHING to do with skill level. yes they can correlate but only in the way that the better you ski, the more you can potentially earn. but at the end of the day the only one who knows if someone is pro or not is that person themself. pro means you're making a living off skiing and i highly doubt any of you know his personal worth...
In the sport of skiing the term "Pro" is used to define anyone who has made an X-Games appearance. It has nothing to do with money. It used to establish a definitive for what contests athletes are eligible to compete in. If this line didn't exist the best skiers in the world could enter small competitions with a fairly large purse and make easy, unfair money.
you have no clue how they pick people to invite to events and it has nothing to do whether they think someone is a pro or not. there is no imaginary line. its called respect. the guys who have the better opportunities will choose not to enter certain comps. to let other people have a chance that don't have such opportunities. you really think that (insert past x-games competitor here) goes to sign up for an open comp. and the people running it say, "oh sorry sir, but you're too pro for this event. we saw you in the x-games." just ask mt. hood skiers where they get to see a multiple x-games medalist enter in the same local small comp. every year and win... kinda shitty if you ask me so i won't give out a name. you kids just don't know what you're talking about so you try to make up some stupid BS to try to sound like youre "in" the industry. you're not. stop pretending.
the term pro and amateur means only one thing :
pro if you re living off skiing alone
am if you have some other incomes
i dont see why anyone seems to argue over that
i have no idea for gus but looking at his skills and his comp result i d think that he s sorta living of skiing alone.
but i dont know him so i have no idea.
