Best places to ski in utah?

I'm going to stay with a friend in deer valley for 5 days in march and while she's playing tour guide for all her non-skiing friends, three of us from telluride are going to try do our own thing skiing-wise and hopefully check out resorts nearby (for maybe 3 of the 5 days?). Anyone have recommendations for which places have the best steep & deep, trees, hike-to terrain and the like??

Ok first of all stay away from deer vallye.  Thats a place for noobs who like to get out on the mountain at 10 and hit the apre ski fondoo at 2. For the park city area canyons offers definetly the best terrain. But if you are into the hike to acess, steeps and trees I recommend you do a little bit of trekin over to little cottonwood canyon where you can ski alta, snowbird, solitiude in brighton. Alta is definetly the best utah mountain i have ever skiied. And all of these mountains offer great variety as well. Hope you have a sick trip.

youre gonna be kinda far from those, but it will be worth it to make the trip and check them out.  Alta is real ill in terms of terrain, natural hits, trees, pretty ill zones. 
the bird has mad vertical and also a lot of wild zones.  They both have pretty sick access points 
I dig brighton, a lot less lines and some real fun mini golf stuff.  a lot less vertical though.  but some of the better slack country and access points.
only skied solitude a couple times, but also damn fun. 
since you're gonna be up in summit, the canyons have pretty fun terrian, and its a huge fucking mountain so thats always fun to check out.
pc's park is dope if you're into that, and for that matter so is brightons. 
 
hit up utah regional forum, theres always some good info in there.

i mean it all depends on the weather really.. but if its snowing or has recently snowed and you;re in big (brighton , solitude) or little cottonwood canyon (alta, the bird) you're definitely going to want some gear.  also, if it hasn't snowed in a while, the whole face across the street from alta is pretty much on point for touring or even a boot back.  so you'll for sure want beac/probe/ shov for that.  It'd bring it, if its blower or if youre ducking a boundary it for sure wont hurt.

also, just FYI, this isnt necessarily true from what i've heard.. I've never skied deer valley but i hear that the fact that it is such a tourist spots keeps people out of the trees, so after it snows its pretty epic. 
I ski alta too, and its bad ass, but definitely gets tracked faster than stuff in big cottonwood.

thanks for the heads up--i'll prob bring my pack then

in any case I hope thats true about deer valley cause I'l probably end up skiing there at least one day, maybe two days (who can turn down free passes eh?) and have heard the similar reviews from other people about it being kinda lame but it would be sick if all it took was a little bit of hiking to find good stuff

i would head over to brighton its not super steep there but there is alot of hiking right of the lifts that is really fun and good snow there, for the steepest stuff in utah go to snowbird i dont go there to often so i cant tell you to much about it, and alta will be good as well for some pow pow, but in the deer valley area i would check out the canyons for terrain best terrain on that side of the mountain.
