Afterbangs gettin water logged?

hey ns, i picked up my afterbangs today and they felt substantially heavier than previous times, im freakin out a bit as i go to PC tomorrow, i hope its just me being paranoied. so can someone tell me if afterbangs even can get waterlogged and how to un-log them if its possible?

It happens. Afterbangs are easier to chip than the average ski, and once you get a few deep gauges in the topsheet they will start to absorb water during spring conditions or rain.

between those two I would go with the chronics. The flex on the 2011s are somewhat close to what my TNKs feel like (really stiff but if you put a lot of energy into them they'll butter really nicely) only they're wider.
I like the stepups too but the full wood design scares me.

They only have the skate deck construction on the tips for next year, underfoot is sidewall. I don't know why they don't just get rid of the skate deck construction altogether. Its heavy, takes on water, and snaps/chips much easier than normal sidewall or cap construction. It does sell well though I guess.
Chronics are the only line park ski I would ever consider.

I liked las season's EP's but I'm not too sure about the narrower waist and lower rocker. I'll have to wait and see I guess. And I'm glad that they're using sidewall again. But I ride TNKs with FKS 155 World Cups so the afterbangs almost feel lighter to me, haha.

I like a soft ski,my step ups are a little stiff for my liking but I figured once they break in they will be better for me plus when Im heavier.Also,I got them for like half price so I figured why.

I have a pair of 155, one got water logged. Long story...I havent gotten them back yet but hopefully they will be good..except they were in a rievr for 2 weeks.

I was skiing, and there was a steep part on a run. So I popped and went to flat and it popped off. Then it went into the small river at the bottom of the hill. Damn ski patrol did not try for like 2 weeks to find it. So yea haha.

I saw a kid ski right into the snowmaking reservoir at my hill once. His mom was yelling like he was gonna freeze to death. I believe it was 70 that day

Dry wood floats in water because it has tons of air pockets within the fiber structure. Sunken logs stay put because they've been totally saturated. Ski cores are dry when they are laid up.

You can indeed waterlog a ski, we had that issue with our initial prototypes (the ones with no sidewall). Water would just seep straight into the bamboo sidewalls. This is another reason, beyond being slow, that you should fill core shots--the ski can start sucking up water.

It makes sense that the Afterbangs have this problem, because they too lack a sidewall beyond the little clearcoat over the wood.

And just for clarification--extruded bases are cheaper than sintered (different processing techniques), so they are used on price point skis or to save money on skis that have other expensive materials (metal on the Moships). As far as I know, you can get clear extruded or sintered bases to screen print or subliminate graphics. However, Line uses die cut bases.

The one he fell in was probably 4ft deep but that was during peak snowmaking season so it could be deeper at other times. I'm not sure how deep the bigger one is but I know you can dive into it. Probably 8-10ft. The small one has so much algae and shit in it because it isn't used as much.
