Afterbangs gettin water logged?

hey ns, i picked up my afterbangs today and they felt substantially heavier than previous times, im freakin out a bit as i go to PC tomorrow, i hope its just me being paranoied. so can someone tell me if afterbangs even can get waterlogged and how to un-log them if its possible?

yeas this happened to me, luckily i work at a pizzaria and was able to put them in the oven at 200 degrees for 2 hours so they could dry out properly. you might want to take the bindings off before putting them in the oven, but really thats your call.

thats what happens to skis with full wood cores and terrible top sheets. water gets in to the core and rots them

I don't believe afterbangs have extruded p tex bases. Sintered p tex is impossible to melt even with a tool that is made to melt p tex. No matter what kind of base you have, repairs can only be done with extruded p tex.

...wait if you have repaired areas they might melt. lol

you can take bindings off and put them back on. Idk what it does to the holes, but I know doing it a few times is fine if you're careful and use epoxy when you put them back in.

Also, does anyone know the name of those things that are kinda like helicoils, only they're threaded so you can have 1 set of bindings for multiple skis?

This happened to my friends a-bangs during the spring last season, he said his skis felt heavier after a day of skiing.

I've always thought of my afterbangs getting water-logged and I guess I thought ; I've never heard about anyones afterbangs getting waterlogged so line probably found a way to stop it. I guess not, thats kinda scary cause mine are getting to the point where they're in just not so good condition. Sucks that it might of happened to you.

and burly. lol. I literally got raped by a snowboarder that was going 30 and ran into me. My ski slammed into my other one and knocked it off, and there's a decent gash in the metal on the toe piece. If they were normal bindings (plastic toe) they would have blown up. haha

Sintered = not a cheap crappy ski. Since we're talking about Line, here are some Line skis with sintered bases: EP Pro, Sir Francis Bacon, Blend, Chronic Cryptonite, the Prophets, Pandora, Celebrity 100 and 90. For some reason The 130 and Mothership seem to have extruded bases.

lol wut. i thought race meant they were faster. because they're sintered. ninthward uses some odd type of p tex on the HHPs that slides better though. i hope that catches on

Today I picked up my step ups and got a nice sliver in my hand,wouldn't have happened if I was wearing gloves but I was just putting them away.I have only ridden them 4 times and some wood is poking around,scary.

The whole skate deck construction thing is just a dumb marketing ploy. Causes way more problems with the ski than good IMO.

Yeah I was at the ski store with a friend who only skis a few times a season and uses my old gear. He saw afterbangs and thought they were like tanks for your feet. I was explaining to him what I've heard about them not being that great and he kept saying "BUT THEY'RE BUILT LIKE A SKATEBOARD!" good times, haha

Well logically they would, and I've heard of it happening. If you break through the layers of wood on the sidewall or the seal that the maple veneer makes, water is obviously going to get into the wood. It has "Skate Deck Construction." Have you ever left a skateboard out in the rain? You go to ride it and it's like trying to ride on a piece of fresh driftwood that you screwed your trucks onto.

Wood soaks up water DUH! It's inevitable that a ski built like a skate deck is going to fail in some way due to water damage. Why do you think they stopped making skis out of wood in the first place?

haha yes it does. not only have multiple people had it happen, but it should be common sense. If you get a bad base gouge your core gets water logged from snow getting in through it. If there is an imperfection in whatever is acting as a sealant for the wood, then it too will absorb water.

People need to stop freaking out about these things... Skis are skis, they break and they have problems. There is no need to buy a new ski unless it is physically impossible to ride down the hill on it...
