Library lurkers

My friend and I have to do an ethnographic essay on people who reside in libraries, and I am having trouble thinking of stereotypes for people that hang out in libraries, what are some stereotypes you guys have about "library lurkers"?

homeless people love libraries. the local public library has signs on literally every table that say "no sleeping in the library"

a kid that used to go to my school got kicked out of our town's public library because he would always masturbate in the back... blatantly.  i think he was somewhat retarded though. or inbred.

I actually hang out in the library all the time, typically by myself. I'm there right now. I don't really know why I go there though, I just enjoy the atmosphere I guess.

i do a great deal of library lurking. I like how quiet it is. i also enjoy looking for a book and then finding different types of books that tickle my fancy. It is a nice place to just be by your self. Going to a library also is a good way to stay out of trouble, and pretend you are doing something productive with your life.

I'm in the library every three days too pick up a new book.... basically I really like too learn about life. a lot. oh and I have no social life (i moved too the capitol of the confederacy. im a gay city kid.)

I think the stereotype of nerds and what not in the library is simply because in general that group of kids are social introverts.  I mean that anyone could be attracted to the library regardless of what social group you are in based off if you want a quiet place to be by yourself.  The library transcends social cliques but does attract more of the nerdy/geek/chess type.

i go there when i really need to get work done, its always completely empty and quiet so i dont have to like fight someone over a spot to plug my laptop in if im gonna be there awhile.

plus the one at my school has these huge windows that look out over all of campus. fuck yeah windows.

I used to go to the library to come on ns and watch videos and obsess over which skis to buy this year.

Then I bought a laptop and realised how many pedophiles hang around in the library.

When I was about ten I got chatted up by an old man in a library.

So the point is, half the people in libraries are massive pedos.
