Foxes as Pets

Saw an article on this in National Geographic, was intrigued. The domestication of foxes into household pets could occur in the near future. Tests done in the 60s showed that if breeded correctly, foxes can be fully domesticated and become as friendly as a dog or cat. During these domestication tests (just having a fox in a domesticated environment) the foxes physical features changed as well. Floppy ears, color variation, and a more curly tail were seen after a few generations.



So I ask NS,


What do you think about having foxes as pets? I think itd be sick, foxes are cute and nimble.

I think you are messing to much with nature if you domesticate a wild animal. We already do enough to put stress on the environment no need to do more.

I watched that video that athe russians who did the experiment put together in an anthropology class in college.  It was very interesting to see how quickly they changed their behavorial patterns as well as apperances.  While having them as a pet would be cool, I don't think it's really the best idea to start domesticating animals just because they seem to adapt well to domestication

With their percise hearing they will tear into your walls to try and stop the buzzing of the electricity. Their urine is also extremely fowl and they have a short temper. They would prefer to hide from you than be around you. A lady who came to school when i was a young child told me these things

Plus i like fox fur, domesticating foxes would just lead to the hippies wanting to cancel their hunting season.

kids not lying. i was woken up by one in the middle of the night one summer. i thought women were being raped and murdered in the woods. it was the loudest, most awful noise ever.

but if the fox didnt make the noise, i would get one in a second
