Not understanding

Any of your parents not understand how much of a passion you have towards skiing.  Mine just dont seem to understand how much i do!  It really makes me mad when they wont support you $$$ wise when stuff breaks when you they would with anyother sport. 

Just wanted to vent and see if anyone else has or had this problem and how to show my parents how much i love skiing.

you have to telll them what they want to hear, the positives it does for you. Such as keeping you busy and out of trouble. Keeps you in shape. Good place to meet people. Also the fact that it is a lifelong sport that can be done with your family.

skiing is not a sport. you cant put it on your college app. therefore the monetary investment in it isnt worth it to your parents. Get over it, life's not fair.

get them into skiing, if its a family sport then everyone will enjoy it and understand your passion.

I've been pretty blessed to have my parents support my habits skiing, but too a degree. There comes a point where you have to get a job and pay for atleast a portion of said equipment. I do understand what you're saying though because every sport is expensive, even if it is just registration fee's. Try pitching somethin like that to your parents and see what they say.

But seriously, try gettin a job (unless your like 12). Nothing feels better than working super hard for something and being rewarded by all the experiences you have with them (i.e. pow skis).

painfully well said.

 But skiing was a stress relief from school and life in general. It was a sound investment to keep my grades up. But than again, my parent were quite selective...it had to be cheap.also had 2 siblings that need stuff too.

yea i know what you mean. but like they said, its not  a sport its a hobby/interest. but get a job and spend your own money. thats what ive been forced to do
