Any Eagle Scouts on here?

I just got mine tonight. I'm really really excited. for my Eagle Scout project I build a small terrain park on my local hill with the help of the park crew, and did free lessons for anyone that wanted to learn some park on flat boxs and simple rails. It was really cool!

Please don't hate because this is something I've been working on since like 1st grade in cub scouts.

Didn't mention it before, but you guys get huge respect from me. My family moved around a lot. I was a Boyscout in Miami, Fl, but we only lived there for a year. Thank god, because I hated Miami. When we moved out to Colorado I didn't take the time to see if there was scouting going on. None of the guys I knew were doing it. It's a huge regret for me.

Side note:

My daughter is 7, but I have already told her that she is only allowed to date Eagle Scouts. Hahahahaha.

yup! got mine back in 2004, damn im old haha. I actually lead canoe treks in the adirondacks the past two summers through a high adventure scout base as well. While parts of scouts are pretty lame, there are definitely some really great aspects to it as well. The high adventure, backpacking, canoeing, etc are hobbies that i now i have for life

I almost got mine. I had my service project to do and two required merit badges to get but I couldn't get along with the leader and eventually just quit. I was 13 and told myself that i had 5 years to eventually get back into it and pump out the few things i had left... needless to say that never happened.

I am not an eagle scout, but my dad was. It is a tremendous accomplishment and anyone who earns that honor deserves some respect. good for you man, way to stick with it and do something good

Sit all the kids down and ask them what they want to do as far as outings go. Do some other activity like fishing or introduce them to guns or archery and such during those outings.

Pretty much ask them what they want to do, and help them plan it out. Our troop was completely boy led. The senior members would sit down and ask everyone what they wanted to do, and we planned it all out without the adults. Only thing the adults were there for was safety shit, outing approval, and budgeting as far as what money was needed for the possible outing.

I know cub scouts is a little different and they wont be completely independent, but see what the kids want to do, then try and make it more fun for them, but dont baby them either, thats my pet peeve with most scouts today.

its tarnishing the name, thats for sure.  you dont have to prove anything to me, i know what it takes.  scouting was so much more to me than just eagle though..  my eagle became the culmination of everything else i did in scouts, the OA, working on camp staff over the summer, the friends i had made, the people i had met.  i'm so glad that i waited looking back.  we both know that we're better leaders now though, no matter how we got it done and how long it took us.

I've been involved in scouting most of my life. I didn't really like the advancement aspect of the BSA, but the monthly campouts always kicked ass. I never had any desire to get my eagle despite working at a scout camp for the last seven years of my life. The camp I work at places less emphasis on advancement and more emphasis on badassery. Which I find more enjoyable.
