Bibliology Proverbs Help Please

Can anybody explain and elaborate on this quote, I am having trouble with this assignment.

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise, but a companion of fools shall be destroyed".

Also does this relate to any news or historical events?

basically. its saying how depending on who you associate yourself with, that is who you are going to be like/end up like.
