When Americans go to other countries what does our accent sound like?

I've always wondered how i sound to someone outside the states. I feel like you can tell if someone is German, Chinese, Mexican, and etc based on their accent. Our we loud, quite, fast, slow, high pitch, low pitch, etc when we talk?

depends on where youre from, buffaloish differs from alabamaish. those are the ones i notice, but when im watching tv i dont notice the accents so perhaps only some places have accents. anyways i cant really describe how they sound

most of you have an accent, just like how you know someone's from texas, lousiana, new york, etc, and you can always spot an out of towner in montreal because it's -25 in february and you're all walking downtown in button up collar shirts and no jacket. and just how easy it is to tell when a girl comes from toronto, she's plain and really whiny.

that question is way too general man, the United States itself has hundreds if not thousands of accents, so it really depends on where you are from, and who you listened to growing up and what they sound like, but in general, Americans do not receive a warm reception in foreign lands

American accents are kind of hard sounding, though it also depends on where in the US you're from. Staten Island accents are the most disgusting, followed by the hillbilly/redneck accent, but it's not like everyone from the US sounds that way. I don't think any US accent sounds that great though. It's not a very sexy accent like, say, an Australian guy would have.

I would guess an my Layton accent would sound the same to everybody. Just like a stereotypical German accent sounds the same to everybody.

I had an Australian roomate who said we sound like pussies when we say certain words, like "rice crispy treats" or "sweatpants". There were a bunch of other words just cant remember

Yeah, I'm from CT and I've been told that I sound "proper" when pronouncing some words, like I have a British accent or something. That's pretty much nonsense though, the CT accent is just a lack thereof.

Oh i beg to differ, there are some very sexy American accents. Like the Colorado, part of California and Tahoe accents to me are great.
Depends where you're from though strong strong accents like the South are hard to understand and some others are just bad sounding.

I work and travel through London quite regularly and people who have been there will know how cosmopolitan it is. You can hear accents from across the globe on the tube and in public places. You CAN ALWAYS hear the american accents over everyone else. I don't know why but their accent is so loud and brash.

I like scottish and irish accents. What I would do for a hot chick with an irish accent!

america really is too big a country to ask what americans sound like. up here in the midwest we have a different accent then those from texas and really different than those from boston.

There was a study saying people from the NW have the most pure accent of all languages. When i say pure i mean the most simple least affected accent.

Yea I am from CT also and I feel like we are part of the none descript accented Americans. Of course we have accents and we just don't really notice it, but I feel like we are part of the norm, and not really distinguished like New Yorkers, Bostonians, the South, etc.
