I wish I lived in Pakistan

I think all you sad, depressed, stressed-out, emo, or whatever NORTH AMERICANS should CHEER THE $%!# UP. Why? Please look at these photos of the daily life of Pakistani people. Note the absolute "shithole" of a place they live in, however, also note how genuinely happy they actually are. So long as we live in a First World country, we should not be sad. It's all backwards. It befuddles me. Take a sec and realize how awesome your life is. We've got it fucking made. Forget about yourself and enjoy the world around you. I mean, lawn grass probably doesn't even fucking grow over there! Tell mom to get out the next time she tells you mow the stupid grass, right!? At least she wasn't killed in some Taliban raid leaving you a poor refugee with nowhere to go. And just for the sake of accuracy, around 2/3 of 174,578,558 people live in "poverty".

genuinely happy? i'm sure the guy carrying half of a van on his wooden cart is just bursting with joy.

and the only pictures where anyone is even smiling are of small children playing. i mean they don't know what the fuck is going on, they know nothing better for themselves. and for christ sake theyre kids - theyre supposed to be playing and having a damn good time. i did it too back in the day. fuck i still do.

i mean i understand the point you are trying to get across and i have no idea whether these people are really happy or not but your source for the argument is kind of wacky in my opinion..

You don't get it. Forget the source. Only the point matters anyways. Bottom line is: they work with what they have. Family is the most valuable thing to anyone. Jees, as long as they are making it day by day, together and alive, they are happy! I'm trying to say that we are all so caught up in modern life conveniences like cars, microwaves, electricity, and we're always bitching! Example: "Oh, waiter, my steak was supposed to be medium, not medium-well, and I said no ice"
Think you'd ever hear that in Pakistan? I think we all need to just STFU once in a while.

I work in the hospitality industry and for a nice hotel, and get to observe people paying money for a nice room, nice service, nice food. Complaints are awesome! You wouldn't believe the things people find to whine and sniffle about. Just look at Starbucks! Hahahahhaha what a hilarious culture the whole "my drink" thing is. Can I get my half-caf triple tall suger-free hazelnut 1% 165 degree light foam americano misto in Pakistan? You tell me.
