People here are assuming 2 things that aren't necessarily true...
1. The War in Iraq will decrease the risk of terrorist attacks in the US.
2. The War in Iraq will make things better for Iraq/The Middle East.

i dont think that too many people are asuming that, least ways im not. the iraq war has made the USA a bigger terrorist target than ever before, has resulted in doubling the number if recruits of al'qaeda and has ended up making the conflict in the middle east even worse. Take a look at saudi now and the bomb threats, hostage takings, and other targeting of western people. Thats not just a coincidance. The middle eastern people feel that their way of life is under attack, and are responding in the only way they know how.

i think the underlying issue is more how money is spent, the hole cost benift. raising taxes is sometimes a nessary thing, but if the money is wasted or goes to an unworth cause then it is good to look back, see what the cause of that problem was, what was done to fix it, or what now needs to be done to fix the problem. Because of this i dont think that its raise of taxes that piot is in disagreement with, its the use of the money.
