I am heading out to whistler in 12 days. first time there. Can none recommend some good areas/trails to hit u, ideally off he beaten path, If it's anything like the other time i went out west the trail map doesnt help at all.
the Christmas Trees are really fun to ski with freshies.
There's usually fresh snow there since it's kinda hidden and not technically even a run. Me and a buddy skied it last time we went out there and it hadn't snowed in a quite some time and there was still some pow chillin in there.
Is this right behind the west cirque of the peak. Ive skied at Whistler a bunch of times so far this year and still dont know my way around and where many areas that pow will last are.
I was at whistler for 4 days last year. Took 1 run through the whistler park, and that was at the end of the day coming down to the base. I took maybe 10 runs through the park on blackcomb, most of em were on my last day cus it was raining and none of higher mountain was open.
Also, on a pow day if your on whistler. Harmony gets skied out really fast, same with the peak chair. GO TO SYMPHONY. So much terrain, not as steep, but endless pow. You can always hike flute bowl if it gets skied out or your looking for something steeper.
take west cirque, then cut over to the ridge on your left and it should be right there.
I'm not really sure where it is exactly since i just kinda followed a friend in and it was a while ago so I can't remember exactly. But the area where we went in was where two trails kinda formed a V...
actually you know what, disregard what I just said. I know where we were skiing and it may/may not have been the christmas trees. If you look at the trail map it's the "out of bounds" area that is right off to skiers right of peak to creek (whistler mtn). Kinda in between highway 86 and peak to creek. We took peak to creek and just went in where there were two out of place looking "christmas tree" type pine trees.
It's not roped off or anything, so I think that's why we ended up skiing it. We didn't really know it was out of bounds, so we just kinda did it ha. I'm not sure why its "out of bounds" since it's completely surrounded by the resort, and I'm not sure if it is or isn't dangerous so do it at your own risk. It was pretty tame when we skied it though, mostly filled with mini pillow lines.
i once saw this video of what appeared to be a run which was people skiing down a large creek covered in snow with large pillows, does anyone know where tis is?
buy a book called "ski and snowboard guide to whistler blackcomg advanced/expert edition" its got pictures and shit. i live just outside if whis and its suprisingly got alot of good stuff in it.
