ok theres a lot of talk and disagreement between such people as jd, anewmorning, bigj, and myself over the war in iraq. here is a question, do you feel sadam hussein should have been able to remain in power regardless f 911?

No he threatened to kill one of our presidents a while back, he should have been dealt with way back then.

im glad they got rid of sadaam, but thats all they should have done...get rid of sadamm and get the fuck out...how do they expect to set up a stable government in a land where neighbors blow eachother apart? it's also none of our business what kind of government they have. the only way its our business is if it is a threat to our people. but its not, and it never will be. also, notice how all of a sudden osama bin laden, who we have chased around for 3+ years is on the back burner? suddenly nobody cares about finding him...why's that? and as for those weapons of mass destruction...where the fuck are they?

Saddam would have stayed in power, because he had a death grip on his country and the UN was too deadlocked in red tape to do anything, especially since their human rights board is headed by Libya.

I don't think that he was our most immediate concern, however it is undeniable that would need to be outed from power. I think would should have taken care of the Sudan first and then taken care of Iraq, either way Saddam would need to be taken out. Even if you are liberal you would have to agree that his human rights record is less then golden and that he is a definant threat to his own people and those around him. Yes, marching into Iraq was inevitable and undeniably right, yet the timing left something to be desired.

you're all acting like this is the first time a brutal dictator has held a country. other dictators do the same shit today, the only reason Saddam's attrocities are so publicized is to drum up support for this oil war. furthermore, Iraq has been in control of brutal dictators since the 30s. the U.S. trying to modernize Iraq is like British and French imperialism in Africa in the 1800s. It seems like we're doing them a favor by bringing them civilization, but economic interests always manage to corrupt well-meaning ideas. sure im glad hes gone, but I'd rather not have to pay for this war for the next 40 years of my life, have the rest of the world hate us, and face a much bigger threat from terrorists now that we've given them a cause and united both sects of Islam. I think no one will argue about whether its good thats hes gone. now america will pay the price.

im a democrat, but a conservative democrat, and i think he def needed to be taken out of power. and for the person who said we shouldve gotten him out and then leave we cant do that. civil war would have broken out
