i would rather stay at big white than red. i love red, but it's not as nice for sure. if you're looking for gnarly terrain and lots of trees and such, i think red will be better, plus it has a sick vibe. but in my experience, big white has a much better park and is just an all around nicer and more developed resort.
ive never been to red but i love silver star. sick trees in silver woods, an awesome backside and a pretty dope park. definitely one of my favorite resorts
all depends on what you wanna ski. I ski big white all the time and silverstar once in a while ,never skied red so my opinion is a little biased as well. Big white is fun to screw around on and they have a really nice park set up at the moment. Plus there is a huge crew of us skiers (including parkcrew) there who are all really chill. Silverstar has great mountain terrain and nicely built jumps but the way they set up there park isnt all that great. and the park crew there are all dicks who hate skiers preety much. never been to red so I cant say anything. but depending on what time you are going in spring break there is jib academy at ss on march 19th and the showdown hoedown throwdown slopestyle comp, which is really fun, is sometime during spring break as well I think.
I've skied both Silver Star and Red. I've never been to Red on a great pow day, but I still like it the best, granted I like skiing gnarly terrain, not park. Whenever I've been to Silver star the coverage wasn't great. For park I'd say silver star is better, i have never skied reds park, but I really liked silver stars because of the different levels.... But red is just too damn fun....and they serve bomber poutine...just sayin.
haha or not im from silverstar and the park crew is fine some of them are dope and silverstar will have there step over built by spring break and thats alot of fun
Red is pretty kickass, lots of good inbounds terrain. And if you have any avy gear the access from the lift is incredible. Pretty small town, but still a good scene in town and everybody is super chill.
I've skied Big White and Silver Star. Big White is currently my home mountain.
Silver Star: Banger park for the most park. Doesn't have a park chair like Big White does. Lift lines get super busy since the Comet is the main lift which takes you to the park. The backside of Silver Star has some good terrain, I'd stay away from there if their hasn't been any new snow for a while. For groomers, Star has some good fun groomer runs.
Big White: Doesn't have 1 main lift so you can access good groomers from every lift. Big White's park is so banger right now. Has a park chair but can get busy at times. All the other lifts are busy, but if you go in the singles line you don't have to wait. Gem Lake has some pretty good terrain, also the Cliff. If you want to hike, there is East Peak which is about a 30 - 45 minute hike from what I've heard.
do the right thing and go to red, and send it off some fat cliffs, red has by far some of the best inbounds terrain i have ever come accross, steep nice trees sick cliff bands, you deffinitly want to go to red mountain.
