How to fix a delaminating tip? Advice?

so there it is, in ginormous pics. my local shop suggested a metal plate to hold it together. I am thinking of jb welding it then when that is dry, put a metal plate or whatever to hold it together permanently(or for a while). where would i find such a plate or what should i use to screw the whole thing together????

do the JB weld, works everytime, make sure its togather TIGHT with a clamp or whatever it should never come apart if done right

line needs to change their molds or something because i have seen countless line park skis break just like yours through the base near the edge. it sucks but yes youd be best off trying to warranty. contact line they may get u store credit

ahh forgot to say that i sent them in for warranty dec 1st and they just got back to my shop, unwarrantied. so yeah, warranty is out boys and girls

Cap it with some thin metal, forming a kinda "U" around the tip. Pop a few screws or rivets through the whole thing to keep it all in place, liberal epoxy, file down any catch points.

Epoxying and riveting would probably break down over a few days, tips go through a lot of torsion and flex when you ski.

:( if i ski one day a week for like 8 hours how many weeks would i be able to ski do you think?

No idea, but screws through everything will help extend the life of the fix for sure. Give it a shot, you'll have to screw up hard to make it worse.

yeah ikr. i hope since i dont do any hardcore stuff it should be fine. ill just ski switch more than i usually do :P

he already tried to warranty them and the company turned it down, which i find surprising i've had that happen and got my skis replaced by my shop. I would try to cap them with some sort of plating them screw it on. Just make sure whatever material you use isn't to heavy.

Pics didn't work but I had a pair of skis that delammed at the tip so I put epoxy in the area that it was separated, held it tight together with a clamp and riveted the tip back together with 3 rivets. worked pretty well.

If you don't wanna rivet you could cut the edge at the tip and epoxy it back. thats what i did with my domains. Rivets will only hold the base and the toplayer while the edge will still delam again unless yo rivet the edge too.

i dont really want to cut anything because if i mess it up it would be bad. i skied them yesterday and they were fine im just worried about the core rotting...would an epoxy be fine or should i put a metal plate where its broken and then rivet that?

that doesn't look like delamination. that looks like a huge crack in your ski. is that the base or the topsheet?

i fixed mine in about 2 minutes, drilled 2 holes in the top, cut a piece of a broken bike spoke, put it through, and twisted it with pliers. pretty ghetto, but it worked well.

base. and it is a dent in the front edge which resulted in the base cracking and the edge starting to delam.
