What is normal park ski damage?

My skis have grusome gashes and edge scrapes on the side and top sheet.  Wondered if this was usual wear and tear.

My suspects have HUGE pieces missing from the top sheet, it just keeps peeling. I have only had them this year. Then again they are suspects so I shouldn't have expected anything less

well...
my top sheet is chipped as fuck, my edges are cracked and dented and my sidewall is about to blow out....
oh ya i'e had the skis since december

Yea park skis get trashed its just part of the sport. This about it you are taking a piece of plastic and metal and banging against another piece of plastic and metal all day. shit is eventually going to break.

That is why your skis are falling apart. Also to contribute to the thread I have 3 year old line invaders, still holding up strong. Except for the topsheet

I have heard the are pretty tough. Top sheet isn't a big deal anyway, the only reason i have a problem with it on my skis is because I have multiple pieces of my top sheet the size of golf balls peeling off and continuing to peel. Just a bummer on somewhat new skis.

Mine look Armadas look like poo cause they're so old, but my brand new On3p jeronimos got a hell of a beating trying to learn cork sevens, big gashes in the sides already after using them like 4 times.

topsheet damage is super normal, and to be expected.
if you're missing chunks of your edge though, thats a little different...

that's right. the edges are what matter. topsheet damage won't affect your performance, but edge damage does.

From which year? If they're the red and black ones from 05/06 then don't be surprised, the top sheet chipped like crazy on the pair that I had.

get rossi's you can beat the fuck outta them n theyll live forever Ive had 2 pairs riding some s2's now since november n theyre pretty much new I have like 2 edge dents under my boot but thats expected same with some slight topsheet damage but no peeling or delaming

OP, ski damage is all a part of skiing park.  Falling, sliding, bonking all demand a huge toll on your skis;  especially rails/boxes.  Your edges go from freezing cold to very hot (friction on rails) to very cold again.  Then take into account how often you fall and knock the skis together and it's quite something for a hard used pair of park skis to last more than a couple seasons.

That is nothing to worry about. Just epoxy over night and you will be fine.

i bout a pair of ar 6s in the 2006-2007 season. Sold them to my friend last year. I skied mainly park and so does he. they look amazing. weird how some skis will hold up so well yet some wont.

I've found that a lot of it is dependent on the rider.

it all depends on your weight, what type of tricks you throw, how softly you land, how much you ski park etc etc.

obviously landing hard on a rail is going to fuck up your skis more than riding groomers all day.

Lots of topsheet damage and a 3 edge cracks since last february on 09 k2 disorderlys, overall they are holding up very well and are an all around good ski

Normal:

-Chipping
-Edge cracks from rails
-Gashes (duh, if you ski over something more dense than your base it's gonna happen)
-Edges pulling after a lot of rail use, or just a little of especially abusive rail use
-Impact damage

Not normal:

-Delam
-Snapping in the direction that the ski was made to flex
-Edges pulling away in the tips without any impact damage

I've broken every pair of skis i've rode, So far this year i somehow tore the edging and part of my base off my after bangs and just snapped my friends 4Frnts. So i'd say your doing pretty good lol.

Jealous. Invaders are the most bomb proof skis ever. I wish the binding wasnt ripping out of mine.

Have used my AR6's since start of 09-10 season great ski. Bases are banged to shit, edges are basically gone. No ripped out edges and I have taken these the the streets a few times. If the edge is still in them keep riding them.

no ski is gunna hold up to the damage you give em in the park. the way I see it if you havn't broken skis you are not skiing hard enough.
