I have basically decided that I will be purchasing a pair of line anthems but cant figure out which size i should get. I am 5'6(and growing), 120 pounds, a type 3 skier, and ski at Mt.Hood i'm not sure if i should get the 161 or 171.
I'd say the 171. You say you're still growing so you'll grow into them. Plus they are a softer ski and they are symmetrical with a true center mounting point, so having that extra length will help you some when skiing around the mountain and hitting jumps.
171 foresure, the first guy basically summed it up. A symmetrical ski feels a lot shorter then a ski that is mounted at a classic mounting point. A longer ski is going to give you a lot more stability for all your skiing. The only disadvantage of going longer is that your swing weight will be a bit heavier which may slightly affect your spinning with jibbing. However you will quickly adapt to the longer ski.
I would suggest something a little longer, last year i bought some 155's and this year i need like a 165 or 170.If you get them just a bit long they will last longer anyways.
171 no doubt you dont want to grow out of them and bigger is always better within reason of course but its also nice to be landing on something a little bigger
