Line step up

my skis just broke and im thinking of getting the step ups. anyone have any thoughts on em. like how they ride etc..

should be in gear talk but o well. secondly we need more info, height, weight, park ski i assume? i personally am staying away from line skis since i took it personally when they got rid of the anthem and lizzie but thats purely opinion.

now in all seriousness i work as a tech at a shop and ive seen countless skate deck construction skis from line come through absolutely falling apart. The most common thing is the base seperating from the edge and topsheet at the tip. The next biggest issue i see is that they lose their camber super fast. All skis lose camber at some rate but these skis have only existed for a year and every used pair that i see has lost all camber and looks rockered when held together lightly. With line skis you get what you pay for.

dont get me started on suspects lol. the chronic is an epic ski that will have a similar feel to the stepup. it will last a lot longer. i would buy em if you can find em

ninthward sent me the HHP,s which i rode on for about three weeks only on the mountain, no urban with them. The edges and top sheet are splitting at the tips and cracked multiple times under the boot. Great ski but haven't held up.
I was just looking at the step ups as something to ride on waiting for a new pair of Ninths. Im not even gunna bother if they havent held up well for people. not trying to waste money.

Get the Chronic Kryptonite or however it's spelled, masterminds are heavyyy and it looks like (from that tech's comment above) they are falling apart faster than you would like. I have this years chronic and nothing but love for the ski.

Also, suspects are terrible. I don't know why anyone is arguing differently, I was missing edge by day 8 last year on my new suspects.

Interesting how this thread is going, if this were 8-10 years ago, ski companies opinions would be so much diff. People used to praise the shit outta of Salomon and everyone trashed talked Line......now its kind of reverse according to this thread.....everyone hatting the Suspect and praising the Chronics/Crptonites.

I ride lines right now, but i feel what youre saying. i prefer salomons. really want a pair of suspects or the 2012's.

I have had 2 pairs of the Afterbangs this season already and they have both fallen apart. I would not recommend the skate deck construction skis anymore. If you're looking for something similar to the Stepups then you could try the Chronic / Chronic Cryptonites from Line. I think something like the Suspect would be a bit stiffer than what you're looking for.

i liked them alot, besides the fact of the edge breaking, but it seems like alot of skis now are falling apart quickly. Also not alot of people have them which is nice. Not trying to follow the crowd.


On the suspects not only do they break but ive heard some negative feedback on Salomon service and warranty on them.
apparently line has been stepping it up these past couple years, they used to be shit.

I´ve skied Step up´s all last season, and they are really durable, they have two carbon plates plus the 7peace wood core which makes them stiffer but also more durable then the afterbang´s!
My topsheet never split up, and they keept the flex because of those 2carbon plates!

Otherwhise I can tell you that the next years step up´s are not a skate deck construction ski anymore they have real sidewalls and are super good and durable, if ur afraid of the skate deck construction!

Otherwhise I would really recommend the Chronics which is by now the same ski then the cryptonites, a little wider then the step ups and because of that better for going all over the mountain...

step up´s are kind of the older chronics cause they are more slim and not as wide as the new chronics...

they are good for big and also small jumps and rail, if you wanna go all over the mountain ski some slope for example and hit the park and rails take the chronics, sick ass ski!

i've still got a pair of chronics from 2006, that's when they were still cap construction and only 80 underfoot, and they're still kicking. they're my rock skis, but they have well over 200 days on them and are still going. chronics are the shit is basically what i'm trying to say.
